I was seriously considering if I bought a proper helmet for road cycling after some time. Looking around at other cyclists I always thought that I should have spent that little bit more on a helmet. I never felt that the strap system was comfortable tightened and thought that the protection would have been compromised if I took a bad fall.
So about 45 minutes ago I stupidly decided to look down while taking a descent of a mere 28-30mph on my work commuter ( a specialized rockhopper altered for light trail and road use) during a turn that I knew like the back of my hand. It had just rained but I was confident in that turn so I checked out my derailluer since something felt off. I looked up and found myself losing traction, flinging myself into some rocks that lined the side of the trail. I smashed the right side of my head directly into the edge of one. I was perfectly fine despite indentations into the helmet and some minor scrapes on my knee and shoulder. Mind you I wasn't wearing some high quality gear to protect me,just a t-shirt and some basic running shorts. Most of the impact was on my shoulder and head as well.
I definitely have changed my mind about this helmet and am totally confident in its ability to do what it's meant to do. Look no further if you're looking for a good helmet on a budget.

A really great helmet. I ride most of the year until the snow falls. Then i start back up after it melts. Also this is very good ventilation. Some people like the visor for mountain biking. And some people don't like the visor for road biking. This is very nice because you can take the visor off and on easily. Also fits very good. I have an odd shaped big head. Fits me perfectly. Not many helmets that do that. Very ventilated. In the winter i wear a thin beanie underneath. And isnt cold at all. Also fits well with many different kinds of glasses. I have oakley jawbones fit perfectly. Really great helmet worth the money.

This is a nice helmet at a good price that fit better than the comparable Giro model. Visor provides solid shade from glare without compromising my view. Easy to adjust and for me it worked right out of the box. Ample room at the temples for sunglasses, which was important to me.
The ventilation is so good I may need to add a skullcap for winter/spring riding. It should be excellent for summer rides.

This helmet was a gift given to me about 8 months ago. It fit like a glove. I have always had a hard time finding a good helmet that fits and isn't so over-priced only the rich can afford it. I rode several trails in Moab UT in the middle of July. That alone was a true test as it allowed ample airflow and kept me as cool as possible. I now live in VA and it took some beatings. Not use to all those trees out here. Had the unfortunate happen, my riding buddy left it on the back of his car and forgot it. It ended up in the middle of an intersection and ran over by a semi. Let's just say that if my head had to be ran over by a semi, I would want this helmet on my dome. It did fracture in places but it held together. So I will be most definately be buying another.

Really great helmet, this was my third helmet and I'm sticking to this, I've tried more expensive ones, and they don't seem to offer anything extra, plus I use this for both road and mountain. It has great ventilation (not so good for winter) and gives some interesting hairstyles upon removal! I do not use the visor, it actually caused more rain to come in my eyes from dripping than without it on, so I just keep it on a shelf to collect dust now
