Comments about Sea to Summit eVent Compression Dry Sack:
I like the product, but it is not waterproof.
Used one bag for my sleeping bag and another as a bear bag while hiking the AT. Both contents were soaked. Don't rely on this as a waterproof bag as advertised.

Comments about Sea to Summit eVent Compression Dry Sack:
Let me say, without this compression sac my latest hike would have been ruined. I bought these sacs, a size small first, mainly to keep my sleeping bag dry, however, the small was just not big enough for my bag. But, rather than exchange it I decided to just buy a medium for the sleeping bag, which worked fine. The small one I kept and used for "camp clothes" and extra insulating layers. The compressibility on these is great; my clothes and my sleeping bag were compressed so small, that they easily fit inside my pack with plenty of extra room for other items, actually a feature I would expect from any old compression sac.
Now, where these shined was in the weatherproofing. I got these for a 3-day hike of the entire Black Mountain range in North Carolina where I was almost guaranteed to get wet at least one day. Well, wet we got on day 1, right out the car. The rain began as a drizzle , but by the time we got to the top of the ridge, it was pouring and with the 40 mph winds, it was raining sideways and very hard. It was probably the worst weather I have ever hiked in. We endured these conditions all day, everything on our bodies eventually got wet, packs got wet, it was quite miserable. But, when we reached our camp for the first night and set up tents in the rain, it was time to get out of wet clothes. I opened the dry sac with my extra layers and they were as dry as could be. My sleeping bag was also dry as a bone, even after the punishing weather we suffered through. Since the temperature was dropping dramatically (well below freezing), having these dry clothes and dry sleeping bag saved my life from what could have turned into a hypothermic situation, or at the very least, a crummy night of not sleeping. After putting these sacs though that test, I will say these are awesome. I can't comment on how long they will last, but they saved me on this hike.
The only negative thing I can say about these sacs is that the straps for the cover can be confusing and a challenge to "get right" with frozen fingers. But, given the good qualities, I can accept this.

Comments about Sea to Summit eVent Compression Dry Sack:
Use these kayaking, so hold space is a premium. I use for sleeping bag and for clothes. I thought that I would get them primarily for compression and thought the dry bag was a nice plus.
But it turns out that I've had to strap the one on the deck during some pretty heavy seas and they kept my gear dry. And they compress the sleeping bag into almost nothing, so they are a huge space saver.
So use it as a compression sack or dry bag. Either way, the best of either I've ever used. The fact that it does both just makes it a fantastic value.

Comments about Sea to Summit eVent Compression Dry Sack:
I have three of these bags. My wife and I use this for down sleeping bags and my down underquilt (hammock camping) when we go out. The bag works very well, and its is made out of durable material. I have never had any problems with water seepage
My only drawback for the bag is the buckles on the compression straps. The straps are plenty strong, but the buckles where they are attached to the bag are lacking. I had a buckle split on me after a few trips, but this was only one of four buckles per bag out of three bags. Also, the buckle didn't change the waterproofness, just the compression.
I finished my trip, went to REI and the exchanged it with no problem.

Comments about Sea to Summit eVent Compression Dry Sack:
This bag is not waterproof. My camelbak leaked in my pack (not for that long) and got my down bag wet. I see this thing got awesome reviews but i did not have that experience. Will be going back to REI. Very disappointed in this product. When something says its waterproof, i expect it to be waterproof. Maybe i just got a dud

Comments about Sea to Summit eVent Compression Dry Sack:
This is a must for anyone with a sleeping bag. The design of the compression straps outperforms many other styles. The material is tough and feels waterproof (except for the thinner "E-vent" material, which allows air to escape; anytime air can get out it is also mostly correct to assume water can get in, but I bet it is resistant enough for a quick dunking).

WENT ON A SIX DAY KAYAKING TRIP. WAS ABLE TO FIT MY SLEEPING BAG AND CLOTHES WITH ROOM FOR MORE! THE BAG WAS EXPOSED TO CONSTANT WATER AND SUN EXPOSURE AND KEPT EVERYTHING DRY! WOULD DEFINITELY RECOMMEND THIS BAG TO ANYONE WANTING DRY, WARM CLOTHES AND SLEEPING BAG AFTER A LONG DAY ON THE RAPIDS.

Comments about Sea to Summit eVent Compression Dry Sack:
I have a handful of these guys of different sizes. When I go out for a couple days or a couple of weeks I pack almost everything in them before it is loaded into my backpack. Sleeping sack, clothes, and tent. Well worth the few extra bucks for the easy compaction and easy access unpacking.
These compression sacks leaves me more space for food and water and as such, a longer journey!

This is perfect for your down sleeping bad you REALLY don't want soaking wet. I don't have much to add to the other reviews. Just a fantastic product.

Bought it to keep my down sleeping bag dry because a trash bag was not cutting it. Great buy. Got one for my son, too. I just wish it would rain again in Texas.
