Comments about NRS Hydroskin Paddling Gloves - Unisex:
To show FIRST how often I use them: I am an outrigger paddler in California. I paddle over twelve races a summer of at least 10 miles in length, and up to 30. We hold three practices a week, and I paddle on my own another 1-2 days. During the winter, I paddle about 20 miles a week. GLOVES: After all this paddling, I have to purchase (1) pair a year. I bought their original pair, with the seam running in the palm. OUCH. I then bought their pair with no fingers, but blisters on fingers until I grew callouses. I finally tried the Hydroskin version (full finger, no seam). They are good for what I use them for. They DO NOT keep your hands warm. My fingers actually have to warm up from the paddling. The grip is what I need them for. I have to change paddle sides constantly, and the grip on these gloves has surpassed any I have tried, in this light-weight and thin fashion. I don't want anything thicker. The women's version, while cute, runs SMALL. I have to get an XL. In the UniSex, I wear a Medium. I do believe the wrist portion runs a bit long. I have to roll it up over the velcro wrist closure. My last pair, though, barely even used, unraveled at the seams on both sides of the palm. They didn't last half a season, and I sewed them up. On the flip side, I have a pair that has lasted over three seasons (my back up). Has wear and tear, but it appears this product is hit or miss. I simply replace a pair every year as they are the best for what I do, perfect grip, lightweight, and no more blisters.

Comments about NRS Hydroskin Paddling Gloves - Unisex:
I was very unhappy with these gloves. For me the worst part is the seam that runs along the thumb to the index finger. Many experienced paddlers develop a large callous right at the base of the thumb. At least for me that seam ran right across the top of the callous so rather than protecting the crotch of the thumb/hand, they made wear in that area much worse.
Seams on these gloves are not sealed at all so they do fill with water and drain water quite quickly thus the layer of water surrounding my fingers never warmed up. When the water was cold, and the air was cold, my hands were cold.
The grip on the paddle is excellent, but due to the seams I will not be using these gloves again.

These are good gloves, even when the stitching starts to rip out. While I still own and use these gloves, there are various small holes starting after 5 uses of less than 2 hours per session. Lame :-/

Loved the gloves and the grip, good protection in spring run-off. But had stitching gave way after the 2nd run down the Kaweah. By the 3rd run, decided to return.
If it weren't for the obvious quality problems, I would recommend these.

After only 3 short recreational kayaking trips they split at the seams. To come apart after so little use is completely unacceptable.

These started out fine for warm weather paddling. But first pair I had, the seams in one glove gave way after a few trips. REI nicely exhanged them but second pair is having same problem again with not that much use...even saw a pair on the rack in the store with the seam unraveling. Quality is an issue here.

I'm a whitewater kayaker and I have two pairs of these gloves and have used them at least a dozen or so times. Unlike other reviewers I haven't had an issue with the stitching.
As far as use goes these are great for late spring, summer, early fall paddling. The keep my hands warm and offer great grip and comfort. These are NOT cold weather gloves. They're only .5mm thick. I have some 2mm gloves for cold weather and even those can be thin at times.
Use them for what they're made for, a good 2 season glove, and you'll love them! unless you have stitching problems I guess :)

I used these gloves 3 times kayaking and rafting and they are already falling apart. The first time I wore them the rubber grip on the palm started to break loose, not that I expected it to stay. The deal breaker was on the third time I wore them the seam that is between the thumb and first finger broke open assuring that they will get returned.

Took at pair of these to a kayaking trip in Alaska in July, and they did NOT keep my hands warm at all. The water was really cold but I expected them to at least keep my hands from going numb, but they didn't. The inside seems of the fingers chafed a little when wet too. They did grip well but I would only use these again for warm waters.

I had these on a 40 day canoe trip in the Northwest Territories. Five of us had these gloves and by about the third day of use all of them had come apart at places along the seams. They were relatively warm and very comfortable, but they were returned for a refund as soon as I got back.
