The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about La Sportiva Trango S EVO GTX Mountaineering Boots - Women's:
Used these guys for a summer mountain guide position in BC Canada. Mixed trails with glacier travel, boots were overall a great pair with minimal discomfort. My only complaint as in with most boots is getting those toes warm in the mornings.
Great for people with narrow feet, like myself.

My feet were very cold in temperatures just above freezing. I decided to keep them for local hikes, but my feet got very wet when the snow melted. They performed worse than average hiking boots. They are comfortable and require very little break in, but as mountaneering boots go - no.

Comments about La Sportiva Trango S EVO GTX Mountaineering Boots - Women's:
These were my very first mountaineering boots. One of my biggest concerns was warmth, as I do a lot of trekking in Patagonia. It gets cold there. I got these and took these out for a winter-time multi-day trekking adventure through some rocky and very snowy areas, with full overnight packs. The boots were fantastic.
The best part was that my feet felt extremely warm in these boots, despite being knee deep in snow. They fit just fine with my gaiters. I haven't tried them with crampons...yet. They also completely kept out the water. I think I had the most comfortable feet on the entire trip.

Comments about La Sportiva Trango S EVO GTX Mountaineering Boots - Women's:
Due to the poor reviews I initially did not buy this boot. I tried others and ended up with this boot due to the better sizing and soft fit quality which allowed me to wear this on longer climbs immediately as the boot requires no real break in time. I reserve judgement on the "falls apart at the seams" remarks of others as I have only had mine a month-a month of training for Rainier climbing other volcanic peaks in the N West as preparation. Tons of slushy snow, no wet feet. I also paired these w the Crocodile OR gaiters, two sock method and Camp Universal crampons. Worked as a fantastic team. This boot may have issues with wear but I am so happy with them thus far.

Easy to keep dry with gaiters, even on slushy Mt Baker snow in July. Felt warm as toast on Cascade alpine trips but still would wear on regular backpacking trips - just make sure you wear mountaineering socks because the boot burn on my shin took over a month to heal. The heel stop for my crampons seems like it should have been deeper, because I did have some issues with my Grivels coming off. Test it out with your crampons before going out on a highly committing trip.

Figured I'd better give my two cents after a full season on these. Especially since I depend heavily on other's reviews for any gear I buy.
My feet: high arches, size 9, very narrow, and about everything wrong with them that can be. **I could only stand these boots after putting in the Ed Viesturs high volume foot-bed.
Trango boots: PERFECT for mixed routes. Sticky enough for solid bouldering (perfect on Thielson, Broken Top, Washington, etc...) Stiff enough for extensive glacier, and toe-in- only ascents. Water proof enough for all day snow slogs. GREAT ankle support. Easy to lace tight when needed, ease up when needed. They still work great while carrying a 60lb. load. Absolutely love these. I'd comment again, how impressed I am with their bouldering abilities-usually a climbing boot feels like a giant block on your foot, while these feel "narrow" in the toe-ie you can feel your toe-holds.
Cons: the vibram soles are not holding up very well and I have to wonder if they'd do well in granite or limestone scree. The rubber on the toe is starting to de-laminate. Also they do not dry out quickly (as in over night in your tent.)
I've climbed most of the Cascade volcanoes in these and love them after putting in the Ed Viesturs footbed. Tried Superfeet, but they didn't cut it.
I've tried hiking the whole day in them-(usually in the past, took approach shoes for everything but above tree-line) and I love them enough that I may get another pair for my work boots (yah, I get paid to hike!)
Just haven't tried them with my Grivel crampons yet, nor do I know yet, how they'd hold up in a week of rain or wet snow. Love them so far.

I so wanted to love these boots, I tried for a couple of years, but everytime I used them I came home with blisters on my heels. The times I used them with crampons, my experience was a lot worse. They tore my heels up! I bought these boots for mountaineering and extended climbs where I might need to use crampons, I liked the versatility of this boot. I used them on some of the highest peaks in Washington.
They also put my feet to sleep. I tried to isolate the lower laces by tying a knot half way up so they wouldn't tighten up too much on the top of my foot and therefore not put them to sleep, but no luck on isolating the lower laces.
I wear a size 7.5 and I have very average size feet, I do not have high arches or chubby feet.

Comments about La Sportiva Trango S EVO GTX Mountaineering Boots - Women's:
I bought these boots for a month long trip on the Northern Patagonian Icefield. I wore them for the hike up through the muddy and boggy trails in the rainforest, through the melting snowfields, and up and around the glaciers. Along this trip there were epic downpours, snow showers, and warm clear days, and every day I was happy with my Trangos. The best thing about them is that they are light, and because they are a single boot they are not bulky, but still offer decent warmth and water resistance. They are nice and sticky when on rock, and are pretty comfortable, I just duct taped my heels every other day, and was set for the whole trip. I would hesitate to wear these during the winter, because my toes got cold on snowy days. While my feet stayed drier than my climbing partner who was wearing plastic boots, they did get wet during downpours, even with gaiters and my alpha pants. However, when I slipped knee-deep during a stream crossing, my socks were only damp when I got to camp. They are pretty waterproof, but water seems to seep in from the tongue. Definitely wear good gaiters with these puppies, and they won't disappoint. Bottom line, fantastic for summer mountaineering, and crazy durable. Click that "add to cart" button.

I purchased these boots based on the reviews I read and I was extremely elated to have done so. I used the boots first on a short hike on the Appalachian Trail (rugged, rocky, and muddy) the hike was about 5 miles (not enough to break them in) but the boots did well. The next opportunity I had to use these boots was for the 7 day trek through the many terrains of Kilimanjaro (lots or rain, mud, scree, boulders, wet rocks, snow, etc). The boots held up marvelously! It wasn't until the last day when I decided to change my Trango's out for a "lighter" pair of boots that I realized what a dumb mistake that was. For the 6 straight days that I wore the boots, I did not get hotspots, blisters, pain, and even twisted my ankle with no injury; when I switched boots, I walked about 2 hrs and got blisters under the bed of my toenails and lost both toenails! Very great boots. They are warm, dry, cool, and comfortable, not to mention chic!

I bought these three years ago before a climbing trip and spent three months breaking them in....or so I thought. These give me blisters after three hours in them EVERY time I wear them. Changing the sock system does not seem to matter; synthetics, wool, liner sock....ALL of them result in blisters from the heel cup. In addition, the toe box is tiny, and I have narrow feet!
