The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about REI Merino Wool Low Light Hiker Socks - Men's:
I bought these to try out with my trail runners for hiking and backpacking. Very comfortable, and they keep my feet very dry. Even after a few stream crossings in The Sespe Wilderness, they dried back out quickly, and remained comfortable even in very warm temperatures. I loved them so much I bought a second pair and they are now the only socks ive been wearing on the trail lately. Only drawback is they do seem to be wearing a bit, nothing major yet though and it would not discourage me purchasing the same socks again.

Comments about REI Merino Wool Low Light Hiker Socks - Men's:
I've ordered this sock or equivalent, in both low and high styles, over the years. I wear them day hiking, also for everyday wear. Great comfort, durable (I have yet to wear one out), wicks well. However, I soaked these at the top of Nevada Falls in Yosemite, on a hot day, and they stayed quite wet all 4 miles back down the trail, so I had to stop occasionally and wring them out and give my feet a break.
- the online pic of the "tan" color is nothing like the real look, in real life the 4-5 different patterns/colors are barely noticeable
- several reviews indicated this sock runs large, but it is true to size. I wear size 12 shoe, and because of reviews, I ordered Med sock, it is way too small, will go back to the large the size table (and my history with the sock) calls for. The standard height sock, which I ordered at the same time, in a large, fits fine.

Comments about REI Merino Wool Low Light Hiker Socks - Men's:
I purchased 4 pairs of these socks In November 2011. I rotate through them along with a couple other pair of REI socks. I have used them while hiking and other daily activities. I haven't had a problem with blisters. They are a little thicker that traditional cotton socks, but I haven't had any issues fitting into shoes. They are strong and hole free.

Comments about REI Merino Wool Low Light Hiker Socks - Men's:
As a guy with small feet (8), I have spent years looking for socks that fit right, and these socks in Medium are perfect. I love the way they feel, thick and snug. What isn't so good is that they wear out too quickly - I wish this sock had a blend instead of being 100% wool (like my light hiking socks that are still going strong). The padding is also a bit bulky, and I feel the gap in padding under the ball of my feet - why not pad the the entire bottom or skip it altogether? Not a perfect sock but darned close.

Comments about REI Merino Wool Low Light Hiker Socks - Men's:
I've been wearing these socks for many years and several things about them really impress me:
- They have been amazingly long lasting
- They are just the right thickness for almost any activity I want to perform, short of heavily loaded backpacking
- They look good with any combo of shoes and clothes, except with sandals that display the crazy-big logos - but I almost never wear sandals anyway, and even more rarely w/socks - so who cares
Like any socks with high wool content, they have mysteriously great properties around ventilation, wicking, insulation, temperature regulation, abrasion prevention, etc. (If wool were to be invited today it would be considered a miracle fibre.)
I wear these socks year round for mountain biking and in the summer with shorts for everything else. I wear the taller version to work 5 days a week year round.
I assure you there's no truth to the assertion that wool socks are wrong for hot weather. To the contrary, hot weather is when some of this product's benefits really shine.
REI, you have a really good product here - don't go changin' it.

Comments about REI Merino Wool Low Light Hiker Socks - Men's:
The photo fails to show that these socks have a giant REI logo in dark letters right across the top of the foot. One reason that I like REI products is that I don't have to become a billboard when I wear their products. Usually. In this case, if I wear these socks with sandals, the advertisement is loud and clear. Same problem with #712784, which I plan to return. Don't you advertise enough, REI?

These socks are great. I bought a pair of these from the REI store in Atlanta. I used them while hiking Blood Mountain in GA. 6 months later they are still looking good and feeling great. I must say that I will never wear cotton socks again. I highly recommend them.

These socks are perfect for the Florida panhandle where I live. Comfortable and not too hot, I plan on getting a couple more pair.

Comments about REI Merino Wool Low Light Hiker Socks - Men's:
Based on all the commments regarding them being oversized, I ordered a medium even though I am a size 10 on the wide side. They barely fit and I doubt they will fit at all after going through the wash. Ended up giving them to my wife.
But now I missed the sale for myself. I have some of the crew versions, good socks. Probably best deal for the money, but Smartwool is noticeably better if price is no object.

Comments about REI Merino Wool Low Light Hiker Socks - Men's:
I went from the cheap bulk buy cotton tube socks to these about 5 years ago, I still have a couple of the originals I bought but I keep about 15 pairs in rotation. Great comfort and wear, great value for the price. These used to be my special hiking socks but since they keep my feet dry and regulate temperature so well I wear them day in and day out now. At the end of the day my feet are dry and odor free. These socks are incredible!
