Comments about Adventure Medical Kits UltraLight / Watertight .5 First-Aid Kit:

I got this kit to replace my bulky/heavy homemade one. I was very happy with it. First off, the tough waterproof bag is awesome, and gives you security knowing your lifeline supplies are safe from the elements. The kit overall is super lightweight and compact, and fits just about anywhere. It has a nice combination of bandages, gauze, wrappings, medications, and the like. I did do a bit of customizing to it, though. I took out the super-thin medical tape and replaced it with a small roll of duct tape. I also added an extra backpack belt buckle, some needles and dental floss, and a couple of gas-x strips. This is a great product that has just what you need in a personal first-aid kit.

Comments about Adventure Medical Kits UltraLight / Watertight .5 First-Aid Kit:

I kept this kit in the bottom of my CamelBak whenever I hit a trail, went on a paddle and even just around town/campus and parks. It is a great little kit and everything stays dry. Advanced Medical did a good job of packing it full of necessary items, although I did add a few items (hand sanitizer, rubber gloves, a lighter, matches and a small knife). However, after a few months mine has sadly gotten a tear down the right hand side. Causing me to want to return it for possibly a larger pack, I might compromise next time and purchase a larger kit that is not water proof, and just keep it in a dry sack in my pack. One with more space to make objects easier to get to without having to dump the whole first aid kit all over the trail.

I will list out a few of the pro's and con's for this first aid kit:

        -Pros-
        -Small and Lightweight
        -Waterproof inner pouch
        -Good inventory
-Bright color makes it easier to locate in a pack

        -Cons-
-Very tough to get to items you need (it is packed tight), and tougher to repack everything when on the trail.
-Can sometimes be difficult to get the inner bag out/back in the outer sack
-The Seam ripped after a few months, did not meet my expectations for "life at the bottom of the pack"

The main reason I would not recommend this to a friend is because it is difficult to access what you need quickly and efficiently. Possibly the larger first aid kits from Advanced Medical are more easily accessible and packable

Comments about Adventure Medical Kits UltraLight / Watertight .5 First-Aid Kit:

I bought this kit with the intention of never needing it, but unfortunately, I did have to bust it out just about every day of my recent 5-day hike. It came in handy for the blisters I was plagued with (new boots are my next big purchase), the cut on my foot from one toenail slicing another toe (again...those boots were not the ones I needed!), and for the bee sting I got later on the trail (first of my life! Who knew those hurt so much?!). Glad I had this along, will definitely be replenishing before the next trip.

I would suggest adding a few additional large Bandaids (or similar) if you can.

Comments about Adventure Medical Kits UltraLight / Watertight .5 First-Aid Kit:

I love that this packs a lot of useful stuff in a small waterproof package. I was still able to put a few extra items inside as there is room for you to add items you might need that aren't included. The tweezers are well made and the other components are high quality. I registered my kit on Adventure Medical Kit's web site and was also impressed by the information they have on their site.

Comments about Adventure Medical Kits UltraLight / Watertight .5 First-Aid Kit:

This is a must-have kit for day hikes and backpacking. Covers the essentials of wound care: clean, disinfect, and cover to get people on their way and get true medical care later if they need it.

Over the years, I traded out the sting-care and motrin for large band aids, steri-strips, moleskin, gauze pads and a pair of latex gloves. Thankfully, I've only needed it to help other families whose child fell down and went boom. Kid slipped on something, is scuffed up and crying, and the parents are freaking out because they don't have what they need. Happens all the time, and with this kit, one can help out with road-rash or a cut.

On multi-day hikes I toss in some extra everything and it's good to go.

The waterproof sack may seem like over-kill and makes the kit a little spendy, but this is something you can't suddenly need and then find out it's wet and unusable. It's worth every cent.

Comments about Adventure Medical Kits UltraLight / Watertight .5 First-Aid Kit:

Haven't had to break into the kit yet, which is a good thing! Nonetheless, by adding a couple items such as rubber gloves and a package of Quik Clot, I feel secure in knowing that I can treat most minor wounds. Super-light yet durable, as another review said, you almost forget you're carrying it. This has been perfect on weekend hikes but I do prefer something larger (like the traveler's kit) for the longer trips. All-in-all, a great little kit!

Comments about Adventure Medical Kits UltraLight / Watertight .5 First-Aid Kit:

I pack this kit for day trips and short backpacking trips and forget about it - it's so small. However, if needed, there's enough basic gear in here (bandages, medication, and blister care) to take care of any minor problems. The waterproof packing is solid, and I have confidence in this kit. I've got everything in this pack I'd need to take care of myself [up to my level of first aid training (WFA)].

This is a great all around kit with plenty of room in the package to add more. I've added a magnesium firestarter and tinder, waterproof matches and container, 2 hand warmers, needle and thread, water purifier, and a bit of repair string to the interior of the silnylon bag. Then liquid skin, more ibuprofin, moleskin, bandages, and a bunch more tinctures and wipes to the water proof interior bag. I use this for every adventure, from day hikes with my children to weekends backpacking solo. Has come in very handy after sending a stick deep into my heel on the morning of a 5 hour hike out of a canyon with a 45lb pack. Get one!

I have had three of these kits, the first two of which broke. The inner pouch ripped just under the seal. With the new inner pouch(this model)the kit seems to be very sold and can hold up much better. The contents of the kit are very useful and everything you could need on a one two three day trip is there.

Slipped on Guye Peak (not in one of the scary exposure sections thankfully) and had the debris picked out of the gash, cleansed, and bandaged with antibiotics within 5 minutes of the injury. This kit has enough to cover 1-2 person dayhikes, but I wouldn't rely on it for extended trips or to be the only source of first aid for 3+ people. Super light and great variety of supplies considering it's size and weight.
