Comments about MSR EVO Snowshoe Flotation Tails - 6 inch:

I always carry these snowshoe tails with me. They are very light, and don't take much space in the backpack.

Normally I use my MSR EVO Ascent snowshoes without these tails (for greater maneurability), but I put these tails on when on a soft snow.

The tails are easy to attach and detach (with only one screw per tail), and they attach securely.

Comments about MSR EVO Snowshoe Flotation Tails - 6 inch:

These tails are great. I love that the MSR snowshoes come in smaller sizes and then you can bump up the size for deeper stuff (or if you weigh more). I am quite skinny, so the 22" design is good in all but the deepest conditions. The tails allow for great versatility. I can go from packed powder to deep powder (the tails increase the amount of float significantly) and it only takes a minute to get the tails on. I can even get these tails on while wearing my mountaineering mitts; a very easy to use system. Practice attaching them at home a couple times and then getting the tails on and off on the trail is a breeze!

Comments about MSR EVO Snowshoe Flotation Tails - 6 inch:

I wanted to try a modern tubular snowshoe, comparing it to the "old-school" wooden frame to see which had more float, was less cumbersome, and generally how they worked. I was hoping to get a tubed set but all they had was the msr evo(notice lower case letters, truly not deserving any uppercase or recognition) and the "floatation" tail. I had a feeling they were noit going to work well and they did not! The floatation tail goes on easily and thats where all the positive ends! I am 6'1", 210lbs, my girlfriend about 5'6" and A LOT lighter than me, they gave us the same size snow shoes as thats all they rent, which I thought was...odd, so they gave me the "extra floatation tail". We head north, buckle in, step into the untouched snow and...we sink. After about 1/2 hour of struggling, sinking, and sweating we were done. The only difference between wearing these useless plastic snowshoes and nothing at all was the size of the hole around our feet when we sunk down knee deep on every step- with the "floatation tail" and without it- both uf us. I would never use these again, nor rent them either, for any one. The only thing I think these snow shoes/tail would be good for is something very icy with very little snow, like 6" little snow. These would get less than 1 star if possible.

Comments about MSR EVO Snowshoe Flotation Tails - 6 inch:

These are great! I am 200lbs and it makes the MSR shoes much more versatile. I haven't found snow deep enough to be too much for these, even breaking trail. My wife uses them also and it keeps her right on top of everything. I highly recommend them if you are using the EVOs. Nice part is on a packed trail you can take them off and have the option of a shorter shoe.

Comments about MSR EVO Snowshoe Flotation Tails - 6 inch:

These add-on tails are great. My wife weighs more so she uses them most of the time so that she doesn't sink in the snow. She even used them while pregnant. It made it much easier for her to walk. It also makes it so that I can have heavier guest use my snowshoes just by adding the tail. As for myself I use the tail when carrying a pack or when the snow is deep or soft. I wouldn't use the tails all the time because they make walking more difficult in regular snow conditions...but when conditions call for them they make walking much easier. Sinking hip deep in snow isn't fun and these help that. We started out with only one set and bought a second recently. Well worth it!
