Comments about Fox River Gripper Gloves:

I don't usually give 5 stars, but these gloves don't need much improving upon. I mean, for a wool glove these worked as hoped. These are made of mostly wool (with a little nylon for stength)...which I think is ideal. I've tried gloves that had a token amount of wool (apparently for marketing reasons), but they weren't as warm as these.

I've tried many other synthetic "technical" gloves with various types of wicking and insulation...but they all were useless as soon as they got wet.

I'm not revealing any secret when I say that wool is "warm even when wet", but I am confirming it. My hands tend to get cold faster than others, but these gloves helped me maintain some degree of warmth. To be clear, I wore them during a hike up some terrain with slushy snow. They got wet. Did my hands get cold? Yes...but it was at least tolerable. With synthetic gloves in the same conditions, I would have lost all dexterity very quickly.

It's interesting to note that even with the wool wet, I had only to breathe into my cupped hands and the wool seemed to store that shot of warm air for a few minutes.

Functionally, the soft rubber gripping added to these gloves is great. As you can see in the photo, rubber-like dots coat the entire palm and underside of fingers. With this coating, I found I could do much more without having to take the gloves off.

The fit appears to be true to standard. I usually wear a men's medium (women's large) and these fit as expected.

Downside: I noticed that some pairs seemed to itch more than others when I tried them on in the store. However, with the pair I finally selected, the wool seemed to soften up and conform to my hands after they were washed and worn for a while.

I'd like to find a pair of Gortex mitt shells to wear over these. I think that would make a good combination.

Anyway, even by themselves, these are a good value and very functional.

Comments about Fox River Gripper Gloves:

I've been hiking and climbing for over 40 years and these are one of the best lightweight gloves I've ever used - durable, warm, good grip. I have cold hands and my hands freeze in poly liners. I wear wool liners out fast, but these have been very durable and look like they are going to last a long time. I use them standalone for all seasons but winter, when they become liners under by OR mitts.

Comments about Fox River Gripper Gloves:

These are awesome gloves for the price. Dexterity is good with gloves on and they give just the right amount of warmth. Great for tinkering under the hood of car, patching a bike tire, putting on tire chains or just wearing on a cold morning jog.

Comments about Fox River Gripper Gloves:

I bought my first pair of these gloves about five years ago. I've used them as both gloves in cool weather and liners in colder weather. I've found them to be more durable than synthetics, just as warm for the same thickness, and to dry almost as fast. I'm not sure if it's the way that these move moisture or what, but my hands feel better after a day in these than a pair of polartec gloves. The only thing that could improve these would be to add an abrasion resistant covering in a few key places.

Comments about Fox River Gripper Gloves:

I bought these two years ago in a size small. I needed something to help grip newspapers while I delivered them from a moving vehicle. I have to say that I was skeptical at first but after two years of wear, these gloves fit the bill. Still fit great, did not stretch out or shrink. Warm and grips very well. A++++

Comments about Fox River Gripper Gloves:

i really like these liners. they are comfortable (not itchy like one might think), warm (even when wet) and stand up to abuse better than most of the other synthetic liners. plus theyre half the price. i have a couple pairs of these for mountaineering and climbing. they have become my go to light glove and liner.
