Comments about Big Agnes Air Core Sleeping Pad:

I bought this on sale and used it on a backpacking trip. It deflates easily and can be repacked compactly.

I used this pad when the temperature was in the low 20s. I put a mylar sheet under it, and had no problems.

Comments about Big Agnes Air Core Sleeping Pad:

I purchased this as an inflatable alternative to the unruly blue foam sleeping pads, for the purpose of using during months of trail work. My purchase experience consisted of looking at the REI sleeping pad section, picking my favorite, looking at the price, lowering standard, and repeating. Eventually I found this little red thing, neatly rolled up, smaller than a yoga mat, and at an affordable price. I figured that I could take the sacrifice, and be uncomfortable until I had some money in the bank. While doing equipment checks before heading out, my curiosity demanded that I try out this pad. I rolled it out, and blew it up. I was shocked. I'm tall(6'1"), and very few sleeping pads fit my length, leading to very uneven sleeping surfaces, and restless legs. Slightly impressed, I gave it the practical field test of a summer on the job. While it's a little laborious to inflate, as I haven't found any pumps to inflate it, the Darth Vador comments are a treat. The 2+ inches of air insulate well, and provide a nice sleeping space that's very comfortable. No roots, rocks or twigs in this guys back! The packing size is hardly bigger than a soda can if you use a rubber band to keep it tight, so minimalists should definitely take a look at this. My first assumption would be that it would pop, and be rendered useless within a week. However after weeks of use, the only thing that I found was that it lost a little air over the course of the day, about a single lungful per night. No huge deal. After a while, my crew decided to sleep on this pile of gravel left behind by some road workers in years past. Every single therma-rest in my crew popped, and yet my pad survived with pride. While I wouldn't go out and sleep on a bed of needles with it every night, I'm confident that with some TLC, you'll find yourself with no holes or leaks, and if you do, the pad even comes with a patch repair kit for on the field repairs. I couldn't have asked for a better sleeping bad within this price range. Oh, something to note: If you're a drooler, and it's raining, try not to get it wet. Water soaks through the fabric of it, and is difficult to get out if you don't have any direct sunlight.

Comments about Big Agnes Air Core Sleeping Pad:

This pad was just what I needed for backpacking and light weight camping. It packs small, is durable, and gives the best comfort of any pad I've used so far. For those who complain about it not giving you insulation, buy the pad with the "insulated" in it's title. For thos who complain about having to blow it up, again read the product description. The added comfort is well worth the 60 seconds or so to blow up the pad!

Comments about Big Agnes Air Core Sleeping Pad:

My first inflatable pad after using an ancient closed cell Thermarest pad. Soooo much more comfortable for me (a side-sleeper). This pad is very lofty and comfortable. It is slippery, but I get around that by using the sleeping bag straps that REI makes (they attach to loops on your bag and wrap around your pad) to secure it. I haven't used this on a really cold night yet, so I can't really say how well it insulates you from the cold ground. The pad I got is very short (but so am I) so it might not be comfortable if you are tall or if you like to sleep like a pencil :-) . Overall, I'm just happy I can wake up rested and without bruises on my hip bone!

Comments about Big Agnes Air Core Sleeping Pad:

It folds small. I do have a tendency to slide off if I'm on an incline but not as bad as my self inflating pad. Great if you sleep on your side, I'm a big guy and don't bottom out on this.
It's agreat addition to put on top of your cot when car camping.

Comments about Big Agnes Air Core Sleeping Pad:

It is pretty comfortable but I had problems with it losing air overnight. I would have to air it up on every day of my trip. Also, it takes quite a bit of air to fill it up. My friends would have their Thermarest filled up and ready and I would be blowing for 5 more mintues. This pad doesn't offer any insulation either.

Comments about Big Agnes Air Core Sleeping Pad:

I was quite pleasantly surprised by the comfort of this air mattress - I was coming from using an old school car-camping Coleman double - and this was just as good despite being considerably thinner. It appears durable but I've only used it on a couple of trips so far. It's not as light as some, but packs quite well and I was pleased with the size - it kept my feet off the ground and warm - so the extra material weight was worth it.

I think the water vapor from my breath inflating it made the air inside extremely cold at night. This in turn, made my body very cold. Wouldn't take it to a cold weather place again. Other than that, Great pad!

Comments about Big Agnes Air Core Sleeping Pad:

It appears that most folks list Cons as, "slips and sqeeks." I bought the Thermarest fitted sheet in the same size (20X72) and had no problem with slipping. The sheet weight is 6.5 oz. and it packs up to be about the size of my hand so, no space issue there either. The sheet also fits the mattress perfectly and the air filler hole in the sheet lines up with the filler tube on the mattress as if they were made for each other. I just completed an 8 day motorcycle trip using this pad and found it very nice to sleep on with the fitted sheet. Space is always an issue when traveling by motorcycle and this mattress has solved that problem while providing a great deal of sleeping comfort at the campsite. I inflated it fully upon arriving at each campsite and stayed two nights at each. It only lost a little are over a two night period but that seemed to make it even more comfortable. As a result, I never added any additional air. I have no complaints with this product!! My Campdome 2 tent with footprint, the fitted sheet, a down sleeping bag, this mattress and a small pillow all fit inside one of my motorcycle saddlebags with ease.
