Do yourself a favor and buy a different brand tube...I've had my bike from REI for about 6 months and have literally had 7 flats on these tubes. What a joke. A real pain when you buy a bike for kicking around town, etc. and your tires are constantly flatting.

I've used these all winter with my studded tires on my 16 mile round trip commute and have never had a flat. I haven't had any valve stem issues or anything unusual so I have nothing to complain about. It's a tube, and it keeps me rolling.

I purchased at least four of these tubes and blew through them one after another.

In each case the tubes failed at or near where the valve stem joins with the tube. And we aren't taking a slow leak or something that you notice on install. Sometimes after a single ride, other times after a few rides, all of a sudden, a completely flat tire. Most recently I topped off my tires in the evening so I'd be ready to ride to the train in the morning -- but awoke to a completely flat tire. Replaced it and faced the same problem the next morning.

The store (and I) replaced rim tape thinking that the rims were to blame. Nope. Defective tube after defective tube. Switched to different brand from another shop, and the problem seems to be solved.

Suggested only if you need an excuse for being late, or are looking for a gift for someone looking to practice the dark art of tire changing.

I feel lucky compared to the other reviews. Only one tube failed within a week. The others lasted a month or even longer. In every case, the valve stem has ripped loose from the tube. This began after the switch from threaded valves. The threaded valves had their own unusual problem: the top of the inner valve would pop off when I removed the pump. I've never had either problem with tubes from anyplace except REI. You'd expect REI to have a higher level of quality. Actually, you'd expect REI to have the highest level of quality.

I purchased half a dozen of these and have gone through all of them in the past month! Two flats in less than a mile and both were valve failures. Given the high quality I've come to expect from REI, I can't figure out why they would carry these!

I had a bad experience with this tube. After only a single ride the valve failed. I'm going to the [...] store this afternoon to get a replacement tube. I think this tube lasted about 2 weeks. There seems to be a design flaw with the valve stem.

True story.
Came out of work to a flat rear tire after only two uses, after examination found a hole near the valve stem. Patched the hole and inflated the tire...valve stem again FAILED almost immediately! Left the bike at work and hitched a ride home. Next day sitting at my desk with the bike behind me, the other tire's valve stem blows out. Something is SERIOUSLY WRONG with these!!!
