Comments about Novara Presta Tube - 26 x 1.9 - 2.2:
I would NOT recommend buying these tubes. On three seperate occassions I've purchased them for my mtn bike and each time the same problem has occurred: The tube is either completely or >50% deflated within 48 hours of installing. The first two tubes, I thought I caused the problem during my installation, however, after the third time of having the same problem with the tube, I'm not so sure.

Comments about Novara Presta Tube - 26 x 1.9 - 2.2:
These tubes are the absolute worst. I purchased 5 from the local REI store at various times, and went through four in maybe 4 or 5 rides - on very mild trails and on pavement. On two of the them, the tubes slipped inside the tire, almost shearing off the valve stem, and the tube punctured at the base of the stem. And this happened when the tires were pumped up to the right pressure. I think the tube diamater is too small, no matter what the label says, and the tube can rotate in the tire/rim when braking. On the other two, the tubes developed leaks on the rim side of the tube at the seams - probably because they are too small and have to stretch too much to fill the tire. I'm going to REI later today to return the unused one, the one that flatted earlier today, and the one that flatted yesterday. Absolute garbage. Next time, I will look at the reviews before I buy...

Comments about Novara Presta Tube - 26 x 1.9 - 2.2:
This tube has been very puncture resistant vs. more expensive lighter tubes. At the end of the day, the durability far outweighs the "extra weight" when trail riding. Used these for two years and have had no issue at all regarding the "long stem" without threads.

Comments about Novara Presta Tube - 26 x 1.9 - 2.2:
The captive nut came right off in my hand, not captive in the least. My pump didn't want to grip the smooth stem. When I removed the air chuck the valve stem innards came with it. There are tubes of much better value elsewhere.

Comments about Novara Presta Tube - 26 x 1.9 - 2.2:
I usually trust in the gear I get from REI, but this is one product I will never buy again. I am a downhill mountain biker riding BIG. It's kind of my own fault considering the way I ride, but I've gone through 3 tubes in 3 weeks (one was a DH, two were Novarra). I can't even take a 5 foot drop without exploding one of these tubes. Enough said.

Comments about Novara Presta Tube - 26 x 1.9 - 2.2:
I've bought expensive tubes, and I've bought cheap tubes. You want to know a secret? They will all fail eventually. If you under inflate a tube, you'll get pinch flats. If you over inflate a tube, you'll bust the valve stem. Simple. These tubes are great because they are cheap and good. They're not the lightest in the world, so if you measure grams, you may want to look elsewhere. I love these, because I can help a fellow cyclist on the trail, and not think twice about the tube I just gave away.

I would avoid these tubes. I never even got to ride on mine. The valve broke while I was inflating the tire.

I bought two of these to replace the slowly leaking original tubes on my new used mountain bike and one for a spare. The original tubes had threads and a nut to hold the stem to the wheel but these do not. In the first ride on trail I got a blow out riding over a branch, a half inch gash in the tube without any damage to the tire. I replaced the tube and soon after got a puncture, patched with the Slime Scab patches[...] Out on the trail I got a another puncture and had to dismount, patch and pump the rear tire again. After that I purchased a cheaper tube with stem threads and nut from another company. Since you can get a better quality tube elsewhere I don't recommend these tubes.

MTBs do exist that have deep-v rims that require a 48mm or longer valve stem (Schrader and Presta). I have one.

Comments about Novara Presta Tube - 26 x 1.9 - 2.2:
The long stem length and lack of threads makes the stem unstable in most rims. I would not recommend this tube for most bikes/riders. Actually, I know of no MTB application that requires such a long stem. It adds weight and without threads the extra length causes the stem to tear out of the tube.
