REI must have received a bad batch of these tubes as others have mentioned factory defects; the tube is printed with "Kenda, China" so it is a Kenda QC problem. A new tube sprang a small leak after 25 miles of riding - the leak was on the inside (hub side) of the tube a few inches from the valve stem. There was no usage cause (eg, no spoke protrusion), so it was just a tube defect. [...]

Bought 3 tubes to use with new tires (26 x 1.85). 2 tubes developed leaks around stem after only a couple of short rides. I checked the wheel in both cases and there was nothing present to cause a puncture. Reading the comments of others it seems to me that these tubes are of poor quality. Alternatively, they are mislabeled. There is an inked label on the tube that states: "KENDA 26X1.5/1.9" which is the size given on the Novara packaging but there is another embossed label on the tube: "26x1.5/1.75". Therefore, maybe this tube is undersized for my tire.

One year and over 2,000 miles of intense urban/city riding/commuting in rain, snow, hot, cold, over broken glass, off curbs, hit by taxi, and I just got my first flat. What more do you need?

I have had more flats with Novara tubes. Not only small punctures - pinhole - but at the seams and the stem. On one recent 100 mile ride I had 4 flats. On a bike loaded with gear it is a pain.

This happens on both 700 and 26 inch.
