I have had these socks for months now, and wear them almost every night to bed. They are incredibly comfortable--and allow me to sleep so deep--better than any other sock. When you put your foot in them, it has the most indescribable feeling--almost like someone is caressing your foot warm and you immediately relax. I hate taking them off in the morning. They have never seen the inside of a boot, or been outside the house. They are almost too good to subject them to that world. They are THICK and I use them like a slipper--the most comfortable one you will own. Great product, and I purchased another pair for when one is in the laundry.

I've had reasonably good luck with Wigwam products in the past, but not this time. After only two washings the socks had pill balls covering the socks. I have other socks that have been washed dozens of times and don't look anywhere near as bad as these.

I was amazed the first time I tried a pair of these terrific hiking socks. The comfort was superb, their moisture-wicking properties kept my feet totally dry, and they are remarkably itch-free for a wool sock. It was a stunning revelation to discover I could wear these socks to work 3 days in a row and they still smelled decent enough to wear the next day! I have since given away all my other socks and now wear these everywhere. Never thought I'd pay this much for a pair of socks, but they last a long time and my feet would tell you they are worth every penny.

I used to buy the cheapest socks I could find, meaning 6 or 12 pack tube socks. I started having foot probs so I sampled various thicker socks. Wrightsocks wore out quickly but felt very nice. REI hiking sox were too short to me and they wore out quickly. These Wigwam are comfortable, wear fairly well and are higher the the REI's. In my job I walk much and often go between 30 deg. rooms to 80+ deg. areas. They are good for this range and colder. I am a warm person and if the temp. is much over 80 these are too warm.

My dad originally got my into these socks- he wears them backpacking. I bought a few pairs my first field season and I love them! They have lasted in to my fourth field season and they are still going strong (although the heels are worn quite a bit). I own 4 pairs which I rotate during the week- but they work well also if you hang them to air the night before re-wearing them again (not optiomal but necessary if camping or backpacking). I usually wear them with a liner but they work well on their own. I worked in 10 degree weather once for 2 days and my feet were never cold. The only problem I have with them is they do not go over my calf (I have exceptionally large calves) but I simply roll them down a bit to where they do fit over.

My husband just got two pair of these socks, mostly for everyday use around the house, including working in the yard. So far, he finds them to be excellent. Very comfortable, well cushioned. We will see this summer how they do in very hot, humid weather and then next winter how they do in the cold. Only time will tell how durable they are, but our experience in the past with merino wool socks is that they last a long time.

I originally bought the WigWams as a compromise since I couldn't bring myself to spend $18 on a pair of SmartWoold socks. What I didn't realize was that there really no compromise necessary. I took these babies mountaineering for four days and have simply stopped wearing all other socks since.
That said, they do take longer than other socks to dry. Fortunately, even when damp they are still comfortable and warm.

I bought these because I didn't like the way Smartwool socks looked/felt after wearing and washing. These socks have held up better than expected. They look and feel new even after many wash cycles. I don't believe there has been any shrinkage either (always a good thing). The fact that they are cheaper is even better. I'll be buying these from now on.
