I've used these tires for two years now. I've only had one flat the entire time and when I pulled the tube out I could not find where the leak was from! I put it back in and was in a rush and ended up giving it a pinch flat... But it filled right back up and away I went! They're a bit faster at the full pressure of 65 psi but the Conti suggested 58 psi makes a *BIG* difference in ride comfort and there's very little rolling resistance difference. Are they a heavy tire? Perhaps but I wouldn't be able to tell--I'm riding with a backpack that adds 20 lbs so the whole bike is heavy.
I don't feel the most confident cornering but that may be my bike geometry and the broken ankle I got just days after I put on these tires and slipped turning onto a bridge with a wet steel beam. So I may just be gun-shy.
I get attention from bike enthusiasts and regular folks all the time. They're just a good looking tire for me (2.1"). I love them.
The only complaint I have is that I wish I had put some Armor-All or other UV protectant as my bike sits outside every day and 2 years of summer exposure has left them with some sidewalls that are looking rough.
I've probably sold 3-4 pairs of them to others just because they saw them and took a spin and loved them too.
Continental, could I get a reflective strip on the sidewall?

I ride very hard in the city. My commuter bike is a full- suspension MTB with these tires in the 2.1 width. I weigh about 200lbs, and take a fair amount of jumps off curbs, and roll down the occasional set of stairs. So I put these tires, and my bike through their paces.
In all, I've very impressed with these tires. I wasn't expecting too much grip in corners or in wet conditions, but they perform better than my previous XC Michelin tires (light knobbies). I've had a few flats, but I think this is to be expected in city streets. They're a few years old now, and I cant see much wear, just discoloration.

I've used this tire for commuting for six or seven years now. I don't usually replace them until there is almost no tread left. I don't have problems with flat tires as others have indicated they have.
My commute is about fourteen miles round trip five days a week and a set typically lasts a year or more.
My commute is on some stretches of rural roads which are in very poor shape. The fat size allows me to run lower pressures which help absorb the bumps.
I pre-rode the Sea Otter course on my commuter bike with a set of these tires a couple years ago and had no problem keeping up with the group. They handle the dirt surprisingly well.
They have an amazing grip on the pavement. On a local road ride with a 2000', five mile, twisting, turning downhill, I dropped the entire pack of roadies I was riding with.
A compromise? Sure, but if you have to compromise, you won't do any better than this. It's a great all around tire.

I replaced my Conti Grand Canyons (no longer made) after about 14000 miles of usage with the Town & Country because they looked similar. The Grand Canyon was probably the heaviest bike tire Conti ever made. The T&C's were noticeable lighter. They have no puncture protection. The valleys in the tread offer little protection against thorns, wire or glass. I had 1 flat on the Grand Canyons from a roofing nail. I had probably 24 flats on the T&C's in 1000 miles.

Got some more of these on the recommendation of Larry at the shop and he was right of course... -at lower pressures they really are cozy however they are sort of heavy and one had to use a tool to get them on...also heard of folks having flats w/them...oddly i fell off of the bike when i only had one of them on the front on a particularly sharp (u)turn and it went out from under moi but that could've been because i wasn't used to using it...(had had much skinnier, faster tires on before)also now w/two it feels more stable and they work better w/the entry level Konas geometry i believe...tend to keep them up to the max which is not as nice but a bit easier to roll...Continental as i recall had an 'optimum' as well as a max pressure which was lower so i may try that...some 'pro' on one of these said they work best w 35 or fewer psi(!)heard that Contis Contact Travel have kevlar and thus theoretically more puncture resistance but haven't had a problem w/flats so far...do seem stable...maybe they are different from when they were 'hand made in Germany' like my road bikes Gatorskins?(if they ever were) seem to work well for sandy off path efforts and more messed up road patches, wide grilles. etc on the 'mean' streets of S.F....if there was a star between 3 and 4 i would've probably put that...recommend but not very strongly...-noisy on rollers(!)

I mostly use this tire for commuting but want to be able to ride on trails occasionally. I have seen the "police preference" endorsement and am a little surprised at the number of flats I get. Granted, I commute in the City of Baltimore, through some of the crappiest, most debris-laden roads in the known universe, but I get far more flats than I did riding either Michelin transworld city or Tom Ritchey City Slickers. Even with tire liners. The tires seem to pick up glass and sharps in the recessed treads, and I guess they work their way through.
On the other hand, they are a comfortable ride and do allow riding on trails with some confidence. I like the large size (2.1) for comfort over a cobblestone stretch on my commute. If they had the kevlar or vectran strip in them, they'd be a lot better for my kind of riding--more weight, but I'd put up with it.
Like any compromise, they are a tradeoff--neither a great road tire nor off-roader, but they can do both. If you don't ride in the type of needle-strewn, glassy, staple-filled moonscape that I do, you may have a better experience with regard to the flats. I'd recommend the tire, but caveat emptor, and it's better for different riding areas than mine. Next I think I'll try Conti top contact or travel contact (w/ kevlar band)

Glad I took the advice of the staff member at REI. I ride a 13mi. loop from home that is about 10mi paved / 3mi. dirt/singletrack. This tire is not designed to be a road tire, neither is it designed to be a dirt tire. If you want one of those specific tires get one. If you want a real good compromise...this is it.

I used these tires for about a month a few years ago. I bought these tires when I was looking for a good compromise that would roll well on pavement or hardpack but would still have some substance in gravel or mud.
These are heavy tires. They roll well enough on pavement and are OK on gravel. The extra weight does not provide flat protection. A thorn went right through while I was riding on the C&O Canal Towpath, a long ways from anywhere, and of course my spare tube was Schrader, rims Presta. Opps.
I highly recommend the Continental Travel Contact tires over the Town and Country. Go for flat protection and less weight.
