Comments about Metolius Eco Ball:
This stuff works pretty well. I've been using it on gym and concrete walls for a while and it does what it's supposed to do. Keeps my hands dry and lets my skin do the gripping. For the reviewers who complained about it caking, my only guess is that they may be using too much. Unlike regular chalk this stuff is designed so it won't obviously color hands or holds. Less is more with the eco-ball.

Comments about Metolius Eco Ball:
Got one when my gym said that all climbers had to. Found that it doesn't last as long as chalk (though I have abnormally sweaty hands) and causes way more irritation than chalk. Just remember chalk is (typically) all natural and this stuff is synthetic. If I tired to reapply it would eventually become slick on the holds. Outside while you might not need chalk period I don't see the usefulness because real chalk comes off easily with little H2O and a toothbrush. would only recommend for people just starting out on a budget because you don't have to by a chalk bag for it.

Comments about Metolius Eco Ball:
I love the simple design on the eco ball. It is colorless and does not turn your hands white like gym chalk. This product is eco-friendly and will not mark up rocks or climbing walls. The product lasts a longtime and is mess-free. I would recommend it to any climber.

Comments about Metolius Eco Ball:
I gave up regular chalk long ago for the Eco Ball. At first I tried it because I liked the Leave No Trace idea behind the product but I was pleasantly surprised to find it performs better than chalk. It dries my hands and fingers without caking on and isn't messy. I have gone through 15+ of these balls in the past couple years and have had two "break" on me which [*]. Once the drying substance is out of the ball, it's worse than not having chalk at all as the loose substance is slick and does cake on the hands. I hope the quality control for these improves. That said, I will still continue to use the Eco Ball exclusively.

Comments about Metolius Eco Ball:
Used in Gym only for now. Just started climbing and has kept my hands dry so far. Nice that it doesn't show on holds, I think it creates a more challenging climb because you can't just look at a hold on difficult routes to see where the last hundred climbers held. Better for the environment as well.

Comments about Metolius Eco Ball:
My Eco ball exploded!!!!!!!! There was some crazy weird stuff in it. It kept my hands wet and caked up. It didn't help like Bison Chalk did.

Comments about Metolius Eco Ball:
Pros: I've used this mostly in the gym so far, and I love it! It doesn't build up on my hands the way chalk does, it just keeps my fingertips dry. It's not dusty and doesn't leave white spots all over my clothes. Another nice feature: it's allowed on outdoor walls where chalk is banned because it's colorless.
Cons: It does dry out the fingers (similar to chalk), and hurts if you get it in your eyes (second-hand knowledge).
