Comments about Cocoon Cotton Bag Liner/Travel Sheet:

I first used this product when we checked into a very questionable hotel (where I had a communication barrier). The bed I had to sleep looked very used, but thankfully I had my travel sheet with me. It was more than enough to cover the bed and to cover the pillow. I consider it a life-saver in terms of backpacking. I'm not sure what I would've done without it. Would come in handy at any hotel, not only sketchy ones.

Comments about Cocoon Cotton Bag Liner/Travel Sheet:

I bought two of these to use when traveling and staying in hotels, to try to avoid getting bed bugs. But now I use them regularly when traveling to Honduras for medical brigades. We have to pack only the bare essentials so we have room to bring supplies for the trip. This is perfect. No need for a sleeping bag in Central America! One side is closed, the other has Velcro closure, making it just enough. If too hot, it's easy to just open it further.

Comments about Cocoon Cotton Bag Liner/Travel Sheet:

I bought this knowing I wouldn't use it often. Only on those extra cold days and for dodgy hotels/hostels. It's pretty inexpensive.

Two issues: Ease of use and warmth.

It certainly helps with keeping me warm on those REALLY cold nights, but I don't know if the warmth was worth carrying it around all the time.

The tougher part was simply using it. It's sometimes a little difficult to get the correct side up especially in the dark.

You get what you pay for. It's totally useable in a pinch or on very short trips. If you're going to be out there for a longer amount of time and using it much more frequently, spend the money and get one of the better-made silk versions.

Comments about Cocoon Cotton Bag Liner/Travel Sheet:

I live and work in Indonesia as a research biologist and dedicated surfer. I take this with me on my weekly trips to the beach and pretty much everywhere I will be sleeping in less than comfy conditions. It keeps me warm when used as a blanket on the bus. It's perfect in hot, humid loseman/hostel rooms. I use their big, rectangular pillows in it's big pillow pouch... never had any insect problems. Yeah, it's prob not the best thing for backpacking and camping. But it rocks for travel in the tropics. I have also found it to be sturdy and I don't worry about the harsh treatment it receives during laundry in a bucket time. It's kind of heavy and kind of bulky, but silk just seems too fancy and expensive for Indo. I guess it takes a while to dry, but everything is always damp here so, whatever. Actually, I hung it out with my laundry this morning and it was the first thing to dry. The first time I put it in the bag was interesting, but now it's super easy.

Comments about Cocoon Cotton Bag Liner/Travel Sheet:

I can't figure out why REI of all companies insists on the standard "hostel bag" instead of offering a mummy-shaped bag.

Nobody brings a big rectangular pillow to fit the pillow pocket, and you would be crazy to use one from the hostel even if offered. This leaves significant wasted fabric and weight at the top.

There are NO closures so before the night is over you eventually lay directly on the hostel mat with this thing draped over you. Gives no protection above the waist.

REI should dump this lemon design and build a tried-and-true MUMMY BAG with tie closures going down the chest. This would center the bag under you for all night protection.

Barely long enough for a 6 footer. Once shrinked it measures 82 inches about six of that the silly pillow pocket.

REI please build the first "Hostel Mummy Sack". You'll sell thousands especially considering such a design would give much more protection from Bedbugs. This one does nothing more than keep the Hostel Manager quiet ...

I used this last summer mainly to keep my bag clean(er). I found it to be a good product, it would tear easily at the side seam, mainly because I was used to using a more flexible sleep liner but otherwise it was a solid product for regular use.

Comments about Cocoon Cotton Bag Liner/Travel Sheet:

I used it mostly for backpacking. A bag liner is essential gear after a long day on the trail. It is also good for warm summer nights.

I am 6' 1" and I found it very roomy and comfortable. Stuffing it in the sack was always quick and hassle free.

I replaced it with a Cocoon silk bag liner to save bulk and weight. I am happier with the expensive silk. Cotton is a very good solution for the price.

Comments about Cocoon Cotton Bag Liner/Travel Sheet:

It's rough. It's cotton, so it doesn't really dry. It's pretty much disposable. I'd go take it on that month long Eurorail trip for some of those more questionable hostels and then toss it at the airport. The thing isn't easy to get back into it's bag once you take it back.
