Comments about SmartWool Mountaineer Socks:
I've been able to use these socks several times on day hikes ranging from easy to moderate and they have been so comfortable on every outing. I have noticed to make comforts about them. One the are very cushioning, my feet always feel padded and comfortable all day. The second, they are always the perfect temperature. When I'm hiking they never feel excessively hot and when I stop they are pleasantly warm. I've always had problems keeping my feet at a nice temperature, either my feet are blaring hot and sweaty or freezing cold, and these have completely fixed the problem. They only complaint is the price, I'm thinking of trying the REI equivalent for a small price savings but I did notice when I compared the two brands side by side by flipping then inside out that the smartwool brand does have substantially more cushioning and threads, so I imagine you get what you pay for.

Comments about SmartWool Mountaineer Socks:
We use these for around the house while in colder temperatures as well as for hiking and skiing! They are wonderful, keep you warm, dry and are not overly bulky. We use these socks even while camping in the winter in Florida as sometimes the overnight temperatures are pretty chilly! We would not use any other type of wool sock other than SmartWool!

Comments about SmartWool Mountaineer Socks:
I put that the size fits "large" only because I like the sock to fit tight so I always choose the next size down from what is recommended and go with that.

These Are the warmest socks I have ever owend! I primarily wear them under my fishing waders for winter fly fishing in Colorado tailwaters that avrage 30-45 deg December-March. I have also used them for cold weater hiking and camping.

Comments about SmartWool Mountaineer Socks:
For over a decade I've switched all my socks to SmartWool. This design is the best of them all for hiking or climbing. The cushion from the design (and merino wool) reduces the impact of rough surfaces on your sole, while wicking away moisture, and protecting from hot spots or blisters. Even when not hiking--for example, when spending a day exploring a city or town--I always wear these socks. After days of exploring cobblestone streets in Paris alleyways, or exploring Amsterdam, my feet still felt great.

Comments about SmartWool Mountaineer Socks:
In recent years, I have become more sensitive to cold and wet. Thanks to these socks, I can continue to enjoy outdoor recreation in the surrounding mountains and lakes. There is a difference with Smartwool socks that are made in the USA - they fit well. My only regret is that I didn't buy these socks years ago. I will be buying more pairs.
Service and delivery comments:
Excellent international delivery service and appreciate their excellent return policy. Will order from REI again.

Comments about SmartWool Mountaineer Socks:
These babies rock. I absolutely love them. Pricey, yes but when you're in a cold and rugged environment you'll be glad you forked out the extra bucks. I accidently had them machine washed with some other merino wool socks that I thought were the same caliber and when I got them back, they were the same size and shape. The other wool socks didn't fair the washing as well. Smartwool is good stuff. I'm sold

Comments about SmartWool Mountaineer Socks:
I bought this socks for hard tracking with backpack over 20 kg and radial excursions to peaks. It have been tested in the winter outdoor event where we pass from 1200 up to 3095 meters, temperature was from -3 to -12 celcius degree. And it was snow up to 60 cm. I have a little problems with cold legs only at night when we stay for two hours while waitings for ropes mounted. All other time my feets was dry and warm. Finally it is only socks I have no any blisters with my Salewa Bison GTX trecking boots! I planned to use them one day only but feel very comforatable for more than 3 days. Now I planning to buy two additional pairs for everyday outdoor usage.
