Comments about MSR Stowaway Pot - 1600ml.:
I've owned this pot for years, but never use it because its diameter makes pouring problematical. My ideal 6-cup pot has a 6" diameter, making non-spill pouring easy.

Comments about MSR Stowaway Pot - 1600ml.:
I bought this pot 10 years ago and use it every time I backpack (atleast twice a month). I see a lot of "cons" from people saying this pot is heavy, yes, it is heavy when you are comparing it to titanium. "Heavy" just means well constructed. To clean it after a meal, I simply toss in a hand full of gravel with some water, close and lock the lid, and shake vigorously. I have cooked over camp fires and gas stoves. It also works great for storage; this is what I store in my pot: one large cup, one MSR dragonfly stove, two large spoons, salt and pepper shaker, match container, and toothpick container. This is my oldest and favorite piece of camping equipment.

Comments about MSR Stowaway Pot - 1600ml.:
I bought this to neatly contain and protect my Dragonfly MSR stove, not including fuel bottle. It has plenty of leftover room for a lighter, pepper and salt, small rag, the bottom and side aluminum shields and little tools that come with it. The pot is big enough for morning tea and enough to fill my 1 liter Thermos with more tea (motorcycle camping solo or two up).

Comments about MSR Stowaway Pot - 1600ml.:
I started out with this pot in the early eighties, and carried the "albatross" hither, thither, and yon!! For many years.
Never did I have a complaint regarding "its'" performance. In all aspects, to include cleaning.
If you are car camping, and the car is doing the carrying, this one is for you.
If you intend to walk anywhere, ride anywhere, or fly anywhere, leave this "little darling" at home.
Simply because, in the reverse - as in the rhyme of the ancient mariner (a renowned poem), it will suck the blood out of you!!
The manufacture is excellent, the fit perfect, and the overall utility superb. But oh my!! The weight.
Good luck with yours!! I'm still hiding out in fear the person I gave mine to, will be coming for revenge...

If you like big meals over open fires then this is the pot for you. You can throw it right in the fire and boil your meat and potatoes and then add some gravy mix and eat right out of the pot. This ain't your mommas fine dining gear. It can get blackened, burnt, crusty and downright gross but when I get home a quick scrub with a copper brillo makes it shine like nearly new on the inside and out. This is heavy and durable! The clasp on the lid holds it tight and protects the more delicate foods from being crushed in my bearbag. I've used this pot for 600+ field days and it is still in great working order! I like it so much I bought one of each size!

Comments about MSR Stowaway Pot - 1600ml.:
I personally think food cooks better on stainless steel rather than lighter metals. The shape of the pot (short and wide rather than tall and skinny) makes this pot more versatile and easier to use- I like to cook real food in the backcountry, and in tall skinny pots its hard to do anything except boil water. The locking lid system also makes for efficient packing- when not in use I can stuff other things in the pot and clamp the lid down, then shove the streamlined pot into my pack without creating gaps. The built in handle is also functional when cooking; it stays locked in place and stays cool enough to touch. Its a perfect size for two people, probably even three unless you eat like a bear.
Bottom line, if you want everything to be as ultra-light as possible, get a titanium pot and some just-add-water meals. If you want to carry a few extra ounces and have a better cook set, I recommend this pot.

i bought this product because it was stainless steel.didnt want the coated products due to the idea being kicked around that[the coatings]are being linked to medical problems.also if need be i could use it over a fire.the product is of good quality.before i buy anything,i research it.ask others.then i go to the store to spy on it lol.where i play with it be sure it will withstand the punishment i surely will give it.no coatings was an important thing for me.great job!!!

Comments about MSR Stowaway Pot - 1600ml.:
the folding handle design keeps the lid on and doesn't take up much space unlike those ones with the wing nut that's always poking into your back or the ones where you need to carry a separate pot gripper. its more durable than an aluminum pot you can drop it kick it step on it and it keeps its shape, its a little heavy but worth it for the price over titanium or something

Comments about MSR Stowaway Pot - 1600ml.:
It's not light, but it's dependable. You cannot destroy this pot. Burn rice to the bottom and scrape it off with gravel. Run out of fuel and stick this into a campfire to melt snow. Beat a bear out of camp with it. Lock the lid on to store leftovers in the bear bag after you run him off. As a bonus, the whisperlight fits inside for packing. Buy a titanuim pot with wierd coating to boil water for ultralight trips, but for all around use, this is the one.

Comments about MSR Stowaway Pot - 1600ml.:
This is an awesome pot! The stow away handle is very well designed. The handle clasps shut to hold the lid securely in place while stowed in your pack. This pot is very durable and you don't have to be afraid of taking a scouring pad to it to clean it out like you do with the non stick pots. I like this pot so much that I use it a lot even in the home kitchen.
The negative feature of this pot is that it is just so darn heavy, it doesn't make a whole lot of sense to take it deep into the back country or on an extended bicycle tour. For those types of epic adventures your better off using Ti or aluminum because of the weight savings.
For car camping, shorter trips, or even at home, this pot can't be beat!
