Comments about BlueWater 2" Climb-Spec Tubular Webbing:

I normally use 1" tubular webbing to make harnesses, such as Swiss Seats. However, recently I started hating how much they hurt.

This stuff is the width of two 1" webbings, side by side, but is not any thicker than 1" webbing. Blue Water's website says it's much higher in "tensile strength" than 1".

Most importantly, I've made several different types of harnesses with it for rappelling, and it's very comfortable - almost as comfortable as a commerical harness. It also seems to hold a properly dressed water knot/ring bend when I used it (I only put 200 lbs on it).

I'm a real man, and real men use 1 inch tubular webbing. So every time I would rappel or needed a harness, I would hear the voice of my former Drill Sergeant telling me it didn't hurt. Well last Wednesday, my left test!8@l told me to stop using 1 inch webbing.

I then made a Swiss Seat and also a Quick Fit Field Harness using the 2 inch tubular webbing, both of which included Water Knots. Both were immensely more comfortable than the same harnesses made with 1 inch webbing, and almost as comfortable as a good commercial harness.

I also read about a dangerous, often fatal situation called Compartmental Syndrome, where a person who is passive while suspended in a harness may develop restricted blood circulation, even after a very short period of time.

The 2 inch webbing is not more bulky that the 1 inch webbing. It's like two pieces of 1 inch webbing lined side by side (but the same thickness, not twice as thick).

Real men (and women) use 2 inch webbing.
