Comments about REI Therm-o-Compass:
This product is a great idea. But today is Mar 22, 2013, in San Francisco, CA. My iPhone says the temperature outside is 59 degrees F. The window is open, and the weather feels cool. My REI Therm-O-Compass says it's 80 degrees F.
If it was slightly off I'd probably keep it. But it's ridiculously off, so I'm returning it. REI, please make an accurate version of this & I would buy it, and I'm sure others would too.

Comments about REI Therm-o-Compass:
This is not worth any amount of money. Had it out this weekend at 9F and it was reading 32F. Never wavered as the temp climbed to 18F. Compass is just a bad, it is off by 20-30 degrees. But it works as a large zipper pull!! I would give it less thatn one star if I could.

Comments about REI Therm-o-Compass:
Basically purchased it for the thermometer, in plain and simply words, it was a waste of money. REI usually distributes reliable produts, but this one fails terribly. The compass passes.

Comments about REI Therm-o-Compass:
I have been wanting both a compass and a thermometer to keep with me at all times. So when I saw this, I gave it a shot. I have a cheap-o brand compass from a bigbox store that actually works, so I assumed the REI cheap-o would as well. I was wrong. Unfortunately the compass wasnt so great and the thermometer wouldnt drop below 50-55 degrees. (Frozen water bottle was a dead give-away that it was a tad colder than 55)

Comments about REI Therm-o-Compass:
I like anything that's battery free, and this is a handy backup compass and "weather report" in one. Fun to know exactly how cold it is.

Comments about REI Therm-o-Compass:
Thermometer seemed to work fine, but the compass was almost useless. It had no problem pointing to my pocket knife, but even when isolated from that it never pointed north consistently. The dial gets stuck easily, and you have to balance the thing just right to have it work - but even then it's unreliable. Get a real compass.

Comments about REI Therm-o-Compass:
I bought 3 of these for stocking stuffers for my adult children and adult wife. Recipients attached them to zipper tabs on parkas. Within 3 months all of them had fallen apart. The small size made them hard to read during the short period that they worked.

Comments about REI Therm-o-Compass:
Holds direction. Within a few degrees of precise temperature. I'd get a better compass for serious navigation but it's handy to keep clipped on my life jacket while in the kayaking.

Comments about REI Therm-o-Compass:
A neat gadget, but the fluid in the thermometer separated and the compass capsule developed a bubble over time, making both inaccurate. More of a novelty than serious equipment.
