Comments about Nalgene Travel Bottle Kit - Medium:
These are great when you don't want to transport full-size bottles such as to the gym, hiking, camping, or travel. However, three of the bottles are too large to comply with the TSA's 3-1-1 bag. If you're interested in the set only for carry-on, the Nalgene Small Travel Bottle Kit is better - if only REI offered it.
Despite everynameistaken's review, the capacity IS labeled on the bottom of each container in oz and ml though you may have to hold it just right to see it, so please don't let that put you off from buying this great set for air travel.

Comments about Nalgene Travel Bottle Kit - Medium:
These are very high quality bottles, and I recommend them as long as you are aware of one problem: they don't have the ounce capacity on the bottles (except with stickers that can come off) so the TSA can reject them. Of course this is a stupid TSA rule, but that's no surprise. If the bottle doesn't say on it that it is 3 oz. or less, the TSA can (optionally, most likely, so some TSA officials might choose to be reasonable about it) just assume it is more than 3 ounces. (Even though, when you do that job all day every day you can probably tell a 3 ounce bottle from a 4 ounce bottle at a glance with no effort, as easily as the rest of us can identify a 12 ounce can of Coke from any other size. I've gotten bottles from other places that have the capacity in raised letters, so there's no sticker to fall off or wear out or come off when you wash the bottles. Unfortunately the other store's product was very low quality compared to these. If Nalgene did the same thing with these bottles I'd certainly give them five stars.

Comments about Nalgene Travel Bottle Kit - Medium:
This set is a staple for backpacking. I can keep some Dr. Bronners soap in it, Syrup for pancakes, sugar for cooking, and sunscreen instead of taking an entire bottle.Since these are obviously used for travelling, you can fill each one with a different shampoo, conditioner etc..then just take only what you need for a backpack trip. They don't leak, very strong and almost crush-proof, and lightweight. I just wish these were a little more prominent and visible online and in the store. I found them on A···on for five dollars MORE and only then did a search at REI. otherwise i would of never known about them. Iv'e been using empty 5hour Energy bottles for backpacking, but these don't squeeze and are a little heavier.

Comments about Nalgene Travel Bottle Kit - Medium:
I have tried all sorts of travel bottles, and this particular kit from Nalgene is by far the best. I've taken Nalgene travel bottles on several international trips to third world countries, and I almost always usually put them in my toiletry bag in my checked luggage. So they are getting tossed around and man-handled and exposed to a variety of temperatures.
These have NEVER leaked or spilled out at all compared to all other containers I've tried. I don't even bother to put them in extra zip lock bags (like I used to with my other travel bottles), I'm that confident they will not spill or leak in my luggage.
I also use these in my small shower kit for the gym. It's great because I just fill them up with my regular bath products.
I especially like this kit because it includes extra "squeeze" lids for two of the bottles. These work really well if you want to put lotion in the bottle, or another thicker substance. I've left these squeeze lids on during transport as well, and they have never leaked either.
I have noticed that over time (we're talking 3+ years) they will get a little discolored if you leave the bath products sitting in them like I do. So I'm going to continue to use my older bottles at the gym, and I'm getting a new kit for my upcoming trip to Colombia. I wouldn't leave home without it!

Comments about Nalgene Travel Bottle Kit - Medium:
Five years ago I picked these up for toiletry dispensers and found them so useful I packed more with spices and condiments for long sea voyages and bike touring. The space and weight advantages over having full-sized (and sometimes even prepackaged travel-sized) bottles and jars should be apparent to most. Being able to choose my favorite shampoo over whatever sample size might be available was a big selling point; so was having fresh white peppercorn or rosemary after four months of navy chow. These little bottles have withstood long drops onto metal decks, being stepped on, and being accidentally thrown across rooms with no noticeable damage.
My nitpicks: lid retainers would be a nice feature. Trying to find a dropped screw top in lowlight conditions is painful - especially when you step on them.
The bottles will stain depending on the contents. The chipotle hot sauce I jealously guarded and rationed over a deployment left an orange tint to one of my squeeze bottles that has yet to come out after many washings.
