Comments about GSI Outdoors Baked Enamelware Cup - 12 oz.:
Yes, it's metal and yes, there was a very slight early metallic taste but after 3 uses and washes it went away. It's a good size and it's exactly what I've always pictured a camping mug to look like. Cheap, durable, what more do you want?

Comments about GSI Outdoors Baked Enamelware Cup - 12 oz.:
It's a nice, simple, cheap, single walled cup that you can beat the heck out of. Like another reviewer, I've heated it right on the fire before. It's used to drink coffee out of or eat soup out of. The enamel is durable enough that it still looks new, in spite of many zany antics and much abuse.
The only real downside that I can come up with is that the rolled lip of this thing grabs mustache hairs with reckless abandon. There's no escape to be found and you'll have to sacrifice the hair. If you value your symmetrical mustache, or your sanity, you will have to drink carefully from this cup.

Comments about GSI Outdoors Baked Enamelware Cup - 12 oz.:
I was just looking for an inexpensive, durable, multi-use drinking cup when I bought this. It was used in the AM and PM mainly for instant coffee. It did not hold the heat well, but, I drank my coffee fairly quickly so it didn't really matter. It worked just fine and I experienced no metallic taste in my drinks.

Comments about GSI Outdoors Baked Enamelware Cup - 12 oz.:
I wouldn't let this cup get a bad rep. I bought a similar one (same enamel, a little wider) before hitting the trail on a two night hike after leaving my other mug (which has a little more frills) at home accidentally. This mug won me over to my surprise. I've made soup and tea in this mug on both a stove and directly on coals - something I can't do with my more expensive double-walled mug. The enamel has held up fantastically; more than I'd expected. The mug wipes clean easily too. Granted, in cold weather if you leave the mug unattended the contents will get cold, but while holding it in your hands or insulated with a sock, it does fine. The fixed handle does mean it isn't streamlined for packing, but I haven't found it to be a problem for me. For the price, this mug does just great if not a little better.

Comments about GSI Outdoors Baked Enamelware Cup - 12 oz.:
This is a pretty standard mug. If you want a mug that is relatively cheap, isn't particularly heavy or particularly light, and holds liquids as advertised, this fits the bill. I've never noticed a strong metallic taste, and it's lasted me a couple years now with no visible signs of wear. It is a single-walled metal cup, so don't expect it to provide much insulation. One point that bothers me is that the rim folds over the top and leaves a small gap, just large enough to catch my mustache in. For that reason, getting a new mug has been on my list for a while, but this one does well enough that a replacement isn't a high priority.

Comments about GSI Outdoors Baked Enamelware Cup - 12 oz.:
I was skeptical about this cup because of the last two reviews. I purchased it anyways because the one I wanted was out at the store. I was VERY pleased with it. NO unpleasant metal taste when drinking coffee! Thats all I cared about. It's light, and easy to clean and really came in handy when trying to measure water for our backpacking food. This is a good cup!

I have to agree with the previous review. Being metal, these cups are quite cold first thing in the morning and they instantly freeze your yummy cup of coffee you've worked so hard for. Plus, the metal rim is all you taste. I had to return them. [...]

Oh how sad to pour that first cup of camp coffee early in the morning, only to have it be nearly undrinkable. The metal rim on this mug imparts an awful metallic taste. These are going back.
