Comments about Sierra Lace Replace-A-Lace - Round:
Supplied tips are not small enough for boot eyelets. I cut off the tip and melted the lace then, trimed off the mushroom from the tip. To much work just to replace a pair of laces. The company needs to come up with a way to make a smaller tip on the lace.

Comments about Sierra Lace Replace-A-Lace - Round:
The heat-shrink lace tips (aglets) do not work well: They do not shrink enough to hold tight, they melt/burn easily, they are quite thick so it can be difficult to get through the eyelets in your boots.
I tossed the charred tips after they fell off and just melted the ends of the laces to stop them from unravelling. The laces are tough and look like they will last a long time.

Comments about Sierra Lace Replace-A-Lace - Round:
As noted from my tags, I highly favor this product. I have used Sierra Laces to replace a number of trekking and hiking boot laces over the years. And they are durable and reliable under hard use. However, in terms of installation, one process modification should be noted. Check the width of the rubberized plastic tips against the diameter of your shoe/boot lace holes. If the diameter of the shoe/boot lace hole is narrower than the rubberized tip, lace the shoe/boot before installing and adhering the rubberized tip. Also, Sierra Lace provides a significant quantity of shoe lace, but only 4 rubberized tips. In other words, you have enough shoe lace for more that two pairs. I have found that cutting the rubberized tips in half provides enough material for at least 4 pairs of laces and tips depending on boot/shoe size and lacing configuration.
Comments about Sierra Lace Replace-A-Lace - Round:
Beware - the shrink tubes that are used at the end of the laces don't shrink enough. They end up being about twice the diameter of a regular lace tip and they are too large to pass through the eyelets in my hiking boots. Completely useless to me.

Just bought my third pair. The first two were for my work boots which are subjected to water, grease and grime on a daily basis. Both pairs are over a year old with no signs of wear. I didn't have any of the problems that other reviewers had. Just bought my third pair for my hiking boots and expect the same great wear.

Comments about Sierra Lace Replace-A-Lace - Round:
Bought the laces for my Asolo hiking boots. The sales guy told me how easy they are, and can fit any length. It's great to have laces that can fit any size, but I couldn't shrink the tips enough to actually fit through my boot eyelets. Will keep trying to heat the tips without lighting them on fire or melting them off, but replacing boot laces shouldn't be a time consuming process. Maybe other boots have larger eyelets, but I don't think I'll trade in my boots to fit the laces.

Comments about Sierra Lace Replace-A-Lace - Round:
I was disappointed. I followed the directions carefully for putting the heat-shrinkable tips on the laces, and tested by pulling to ensure I'd done a good job. Within a day all of the tips had fallen off of the laces on their own, forcing me to just hold a match under the ends of the laces to prevent fraying. Fortunately my old hiking boots don't require going through hole eyelets for final lace-up.

Comments about Sierra Lace Replace-A-Lace - Round:
The manufacturer claims they will outlast your boots. They don't. I find they rarely last more than a few months.
One nice feature is that they come in a single long strand that you can cut to fit your boots precisely. No more trying to remember how many inches your boots use
The flat laces do a good job of staying tied. The round version, not so good.

Comments about Sierra Lace Replace-A-Lace - Round:
I used these laces as a replacement and they work pretty well I just happen to have an eyelet on my shoe that eats the lace. So that's why I gave it a 4 instead of a 5 because it can't hold up to my boots.
