Accepted Forms of Payment

  • Online and Phone—You may pay with your Visa, REI Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover Brand Cards (including Diners Club Int'l and China UnionPay), JCB, REI gift certificate, REI gift card or REI dividend.
  • Mail Order—In addition to bankcards and REI dividends, we accept personal checks and money orders for mail orders. However, we are unable to reserve merchandise until your check or money order arrives. There is no guarantee that the merchandise you selected will still be available by the time your order arrives.

Sales Tax

  • As a national retailer with physical retail stores nationwide, REI is required to charge applicable state and local sales tax on orders shipped to states where we have a physical presence, which includes distribution centers, operating stores and/or new stores under construction.
  • In states in which REI does not have a physical presence, we may be required to charge applicable state and local sales tax on orders shipped if required to do so under state and/or local tax laws, such as those enacted by the State of New York.
  • Some taxing authorities also require the taxable amount to include any shipping and handling charges, while others charge sales tax only on merchandise. We are required to follow the rules of each state.
  • Gift Cards—No sales tax is charged when buying gift cards. The appropriate sales tax will be charged on the purchase when the gift card is used.

If you have an online coupon, make sure to read the exclusions and instructions carefully. Please pay careful attention to the offer’s start and end dates. If your order does not seem to reflect the benefits stated in the promotion, take another moment to review the promotional offer's terms and conditions.

  • When you've finished shopping click the "Proceed to Checkout" button.
  • Provide your billing and shipping information.
  • Enter your coupon code in step #4.
  • Complete the rest of the Billing page and click the "Continue" button.
  • Verify your coupon was applied on the Review and Pay page.
  • Submit your order and enjoy your savings!
