Oversize & Hazardous Items
Oversize and hazardous items cannot be shipped to international or APO/FPO addresses.
Oversize Items
Shipping bikes, canoes, rooftop boxes and other oversize or heavy items costs extra. Be sure to read the special shipping information that appears on the product page, or on the purchase agreement page which you'll see when you place the item in your shopping cart. Oversize charges are not added on REI Store Pickup orders.
If your oversize item is a gift:
- Most oversize items are not eligible for gift boxing. If an item can't be gift boxed, we'll let you know on the product page.
- Some items with irregular shapes may be sent in gift bags rather than gift boxes.
Hazardous Items
Because flammable items must be sent via surface shipping, they may be shipped separately from the rest of your order.

Currently, there are two ways to get free shipping for your REI purchase. You can have your order shipped to your local store for in-store pick up, or you can get free U.S. Standard shipping on orders of $50 or more. What does it mean if an item is on backorder?
If an item is not currently available, but we think we'll eventually get more inventory, you have the option to put that item on backorder. If the item becomes available we will ship it to you. Of course, we will not charge your credit card until the item ships.
