Member Benefits

The Member Refund

Every March, active REI members receive a member refund in the form of an annual dividend notice. The refund is typically 10% back on your eligible REI purchases.**

You can use your dividend notice as soon as you receive it to purchase gear and services at REI. Or you can redeem it for cash after July 1. Note: Your REI member refund expires on Dec. 31 of the year after it is issued. Read more about the member refund.

Spending Your Dividend

Dividend notices are mailed annually in late February to active members with eligible purchase activity for the previous year. After receipt of your dividend notice, you can immediately buy more gear at REI.com, REI-OUTLET.com at any REI store or through phone, fax or mail order. If spending your REI dividend online, you can use your dividend to pay for your purchase in Step #3 at checkout.

Donating Your Dividend

REI members may donate all or a portion of their unused dividends to The REI Foundation. You may donate your dividend any time prior to the expiration date stated on your dividend notice. Requests for donations are processed once per month, from July 1 through December 31, yearly. Donate your dividend.

Voting Privileges

Your board of directors election ballot is included with your annual dividend notice. It's your chance to have a say in how your co-op is run.

**Excludes sale/clearance items (prices ending in $._9 or $._3), items discounted 15% or more, gift cards, REI Adventures trips, REI Outdoor School classes and outings, sales tax, postage, mounting, engraving, labor, rental fees and membership fee.

Requesting a Dividend Check

Your dividend notice is good for merchandise immediately upon receipt, or you may request a check for your dividend at any time prior to the expiration date stated on your notice. REI issues checks weekly, from July 1 through December 31, yearly.
