Comments about Nalgene Wide-Mouth Cantene - 32 oz.:
Great idea, but the collar of the bottle, where the lid apparatus attaches to the rest of the plastic reservoir, is extremely suseptible to damage from abrasion. One or two slides on a piece of granite and the reservoir will make a tiny puncture where the plastic won't give, rendering your bottle leaky. I would NOT recommend, take a look at the Platypus small mouth bottles; they do not have this design flaw. I'm taking mine back. I loved the idea though, super lightweight for a Nalgene. Needs reinforcement where the collar of the bottle top joins the rest of the thin plastic reservoir. Poorly designed in this area. I take very good care of my camping gear and am really let down by the design. I'm taking mine back. (I also have the 48 oz. version; that one already LEAKS after ONE TRIP, this smaller one seems seems SLIGHTLY more durable; somehow the dimensions of the smaller one keep it slightly more out of harm's way).
I love the low weight and the way it packs down, but that's it. Glad I wasn't thru hiking with one of these. Unreliable.

Comments about Nalgene Wide-Mouth Cantene - 32 oz.:
Works great with any filter system, and the best use is for pee bottle in the tent or sleeping bag when the temps are too cold to warrant leaving sleeping bag or tent!

Comments about Nalgene Wide-Mouth Cantene - 32 oz.:
I've had a pair of cantenes going on 6 years now, during which they've seen hard use and cold temperatures without a leak. Previously I had two Platipus small-mouth bottles that both punctured eventually. There's a plastic taste, but it's mild and inoffensive, no more than any other bottle I've had, and comparable to the amount of aluminum taste in Kleen Kanteens etc. Plus, they've been BPA-free for years.

Comments about Nalgene Wide-Mouth Cantene - 32 oz.:
I had a 32Oz canteen for a while and a 48Oz canteen that both eventually broke on me. These canteens can take the boiling water temperature. -Though one time I did pour some hotter than boiling water into an old canteen and a blister (about 1 inch circle) grew on the bottom. The blister popped and yet the canteen only leaked a small drop every five minutes or so if I did not squeeze it. I figured this out because I did not notice the blister at first. Afterwards when I poured boiling water into these canteens I waited 10 seconds or so after taking the water off of the ztove. I realized that it was prudent to not fill these canteens up to the very top, but to leave at least half an inch of room. These canteens are only so strong.

Comments about Nalgene Wide-Mouth Cantene - 32 oz.:
I love these bottles for backpacking and mountaineering because they are lightweight and, when you're not using them, they collapse and take up very little space. I also like the wide-mouth opening.
Obviously, you must be careful with them, but the only time I've had one leak was after I put coffee in it several times, which seemed to pressurize it too much.
And, as an earlier reviewer recommends, they make for a good pee bottle.

Comments about Nalgene Wide-Mouth Cantene - 32 oz.:
Great lightweight container, but the SteriPen pre-filter lid does not screw onto this nalgene product--only the original one liter nalgene bottle. To save weight and space I leave both the filter cap and the bulky bottle at home!

Comments about Nalgene Wide-Mouth Cantene - 32 oz.:
We used this and a day pack to get to Vegas and Moab with just carry-ons. I considered the Platypus, but opted for the brand I had experience with and a mouth that is more compatible with water pumps. Mission accomplished. This and an MSR dromedary (I've had for years) carried enough water for two in the desert.
Unfortunately, round two in the Appalachians, it started to develop a slow leak at the edge seam. I do not abuse my gear and expect it to hold up for a long time.
I'm going with the Platypus next time. I wish their mouth worked differently, but it's more important the water stays on the inside.

Comments about Nalgene Wide-Mouth Cantene - 32 oz.:
Not durable at all. Started leaking not long after using it. Both near the opening of the bottle and on the bottom.
Too bad as I like the wide-mouth.
I will NOT be buying these anymore.
