Comments about REI Alpine Lakes Full-Zip Pants - Men's Tall:
Overall, I like these pants, they do what they are suposed to do, keep out wind and rain. The full zips make them easy on/easy off. I'm 6'3" and it can be tough to find pants with enough length, which these have. First time I used them was on a four day trip into the Boundary Waters in late Sept. Turned into a three day trip due to weather. Thunder storms, high winds(gust I guess between 40 to 50 mph)and cold rain. Pants kept me warm and dry the entire time. They keep out the wind and seem to breath well. Now the downsides, which are few. The elastic and waist cinch aren't enough to keep them in place with a pack on your back. A pair of suspenders fixes that. They are also kinda nosy when you are walking, like snow pants, and a little on the bulky side. There not heavy, they just take up space in a pack. For mild to warm weather, I would leave them at home and go with something lighter. But for cool weather and cold rain/snow they are worth they space.

Comments about REI Alpine Lakes Full-Zip Pants - Men's Tall:
I use these for biking. In the summer I use them for rain but I also use them in the winter as an outer windproof layer for warmth.
The full-zip works well and because they have 2-way zippers one can ventilate even in moderate rain. This feature also makes it possible to put them on or take them off over heavy boots.
The articulated knee helps keep them from binding during pedaling.
The best rainproof, windproof pants I've ever had.
