Comments about SmartWool Light Hiker Socks:
These things feel so great on my feet. I will wear them in the middle of a hot, humid Houston summer day, they wick away moisture, I never get a blister with them, and they don't feel too hot on my feet. On the other hand, they keep my feet warm in cold situations, whether walking in snow or on a long cold transpacific flight. They also have great padding on the bottoms, cushioning a day of being on one's feet all day.
However, at 16 bucks a pair, I would expect these socks to be far more durable than they are. I have owned the same pair of hiking boots since 1997, and I still own a couple of pairs of Thorlo hiking socks that I bought at the same time. Within a month of buying the Smartwool light hikers, while wearing them with the same boots that the Thorlos stood up to for 11 years, the Smarwool socks started pilling at the achilles. Within 3 months, they were see-through at the achilles. It's a real shame, because the smartwools are so comfortable, moreso than the thorlos, but just not durable enough to keep buying.

Comments about SmartWool Light Hiker Socks:
These are great socks, really they are, however as of late, I've noticed that they wear down rather quick. I've always worn them for backpacking trips, but when I attempted to wear them on a thru-hike, they were lasting less than a month! It could have been all that dirt and sand, but I was a little disspointed. These truely are fantastic for shorter trips and as others have said, I enjoy wearing them around the house (try putting a pair on and sliding on your hardwood floors-fun for the whole family...)

Comments about SmartWool Light Hiker Socks:
My only complaint about smartwool socks is that for the price they wear out so quickly - less than a year of average use.

Comments about SmartWool Light Hiker Socks:
I got these socks for hiking, but I have been wearing them as much as I can. My girlfriend also has some and after a long day on her feet she will come home wishing that she had worn her smartwool socks.
My only complaint is that they only come in two colors, so our socks often get mixed up.

Comments about SmartWool Light Hiker Socks:
These socks are perfect function-wise. The only problem I've had is that large size goes from 9-11.5. I'm a 9.5 so there's a lot of room left over in there for the sock to roll up on me especially around the toe and heel. I'll have to try a medium and see how that goes. Other than that they are super comfortable and keep my feet incredibly dry even when I'm mountain hiking in the summertime. They warm and cool at the same time and very during although those prickly weeds can fuzz them out real bad. Smartwool makes the best product for socks and first layers. All my socks are Smartwool. I especially like they're running socks.

Comments about SmartWool Light Hiker Socks:
I almost exclusively use SmartWool nowadays. For both exercise and casual wear. I have one pair of dress type socks but haven't seen any in the last couple years. Otherwise I would use it for wearing with a suit more as well.
The thicker socks however tend to make your feet feel like they are floating in sweat, so I recommend the thinner socks like hikers or lighter.
These socks specifically are great for casual wear.

Comments about SmartWool Light Hiker Socks:
After six years in combat boots, these socks stand on top of the pack. I would spend up to $30 a pair for socks, and never got anything that could compare to the long lasting comfort of the SmartWool hiking socks. I had some serious infections in my feet, and the podiatrist says that getting rid of it was mostly attributable to my choice in socks. In my personal opinion, as a Forester and as a former Scout, these socks are THE best, bar-none.

Comments about SmartWool Light Hiker Socks:
I've owned many pairs of Light Hikers over the last 12 years and these are my favorite socks. Prior to discovering Smartwool I had worn Thorlos and Wigwams, but was never satisfied with the fit or wicking ability of either. My older Light Hikers do seem thicker and more durable than the current production. Just a guess, but I suspect this could be due to less % of wool content in the newer blend. Regardless, I still love them and have been wearing Smartwool casual socks and running socks for years as well.

Comments about SmartWool Light Hiker Socks:
I wear these socks daily most of the year. They are comfortable, warm, and the grey color goes well with jeans or casual pants. The only complaints I have are that these socks are too expensive and they wear out too quickly for the price. The bottoms of the socks wear on the pressure points after several months of wear -- and replacing them is not cheap. [...]

Comments about SmartWool Light Hiker Socks:
I would reccomend these socks to someone who can afford a [$] a pair sock habbit. Once you wear these socks, no others will do. You might settle for the REI brand wool socks, that are a few bucks cheeper (but also don't last quite as long), they're almost as comfortable and soft, but not quite. They are the greatest combatant against blisters, once I started wearing more of these I stopped needing to wear bandages or moleskin on my feet when breaking in new shoes. Definately makes you swearr off the cheap cotton tube socks, but don't get into them unless you can afford to get more. I highly reccomend buying them in bulk (so you get the discount).
