Comments about Yakima Raptor Bike Mount:
Recently I had been using a King Joe 2 on my VW. I have since bought a Subaru WRX wagon and mounted a pair of these to the factory roof racks/cross bars. I love the way they work. I was nervous at first, as it seems like your bike is way up high, but after a few uses I found it to be very stable and reliable. Having straps for both wheels as well as the locking clamp on the frame leaves me to worry about driving, and not how secure my bike is on the roof. After about 2 dozen uses, I have not even noticed any marks on my bike from the clamp, either. Great rack for a great price.

Comments about Yakima Raptor Bike Mount:
I had this for awhile and i notice that the hinges at the lower arm after many time of uses i notice that there little slack and play... after driving i notice my bike started to swing side to side... not much but kind of nerve racking to look up and see your bike moving side to side.. but over all its stable and good... kind of scary seeing your bike standing soo high up there

Comments about Yakima Raptor Bike Mount:
For the most part, this rack has been durable and mostly easy to use. The option to have a lock on the clamp is a big plus. However it has it's flaws...more geared towards a freeride or downhill rider. Getting a bike on the rack can be difficult at times, especially if you're not on a level surface. You have to get the bike in the tray, roll the bike back so that you can pull the arm past your chain ring or crank, and then clamp it down. Also, after a long day of riding, I would much rather not lift my 45lb bike (downhill) over my head just to get it on the rack. I would not recommend this rack if you have wide bike tires. The tray will not fit my 2.5"+ tires, and makes it a lot harder to lock up the bike and keep it from leaning while driving. However, with all that said, it is a great rack for a smaller style bike (XC or all mountain).

Comments about Yakima Raptor Bike Mount:
I wasn't really impressed with these. I have two of these and two of the fork mount racks. I suppose if you can't easily take the front wheel off of your bike, it may be more of an advantage. I always just ended up using the fork mount racks because the locking, bolt clamp seemed to hold them more stable.

Comments about Yakima Raptor Bike Mount:
We added a rack on the roof of the Popup camper to hold the raptors. We bought 4 raptors. It's easily to install and load bikes. We go camping approximatley 24 times yearly. The best product on the market

Comments about Yakima Raptor Bike Mount:
For a family of 5 we needed to store our bikes on top of our Subarban when we pulled our camper. We bought 3 raptors to start and will add at least one more. It was easily to install and load bikes. The only thing that could be improved would be the straps through the tires. You have to work at making sure they are tight enough.

Comments about Yakima Raptor Bike Mount:
I have the Raptor bike rack mounted to the factory racks of my Subaru. I find that the Raptor rack is very unstable. My bike is always flopping around on the top of the rack. I've broken two of the Mighty Mounts that connect the Raptor to the factory rack. Once when tightening the rack, the metal nut pulled all the way through the plastic Mighty Mount. The second time, I was making a left turn and I heard this loud bang on my roof. When I pulled over, my bike was lying on its side and the pedal had scratched the paint on my car. Once again, the metal nut had pulled through the plastic of the Mighty Mount. When I called Yakima, the customer service rep has never heard of this failure, but he did suggest that I take the broken mount back to REI for warranty replacement. Thanks, REI, for the replacement.
