Comments about Yakima King Cobra Bike Mount:
Great bike rack. Easy to use and durable.
But if you find yourself needing an adapter to make it work with the factory roof rack, I found the THULE Ride-on-Adapter works a lot better than the Yakima's Mighty Mounts. (Yes, they're compatible... surprisingly)
Also, you only need to buy 1 box of THULE adapter where as if you use Mighty Mounts, you need to get 2 boxes (you need total of 6 mounts, but Yakima sells 4 in a box) so you end up with 2 left over.
Also the THULE adapter is studier and makes the racks more level. Makes the installation MUCH easier than using Mighty Moiunts
As far as the King Cobra itself, I love it!!!!
4 stars because the locking cable has no place to go when not used, thus making noise sometimes. and the the entire rack needs to be tied down with bungee cord when not in use to keep it from bopping up and down... at least I do.

Comments about Yakima King Cobra Bike Mount:
Great concept. Absolute necessity when you have no desire or ability to quickly remove the front wheel. Takes practice to smoothly load a bike - even more practice if it is a heavier bike. NOT a good product for a high roofed vehicle if you are not tall enough or have no running boards to stand on or no stool/step ladder. Great to know the bike is locked to the car. A heavy bike tends to wooble in place (you find yourself checking it often to make sure it is still there and that the main brass bolt has not failed) but no negative experiences. A light bike is tied in rock solid. Simple to install.

Comments about Yakima King Cobra Bike Mount:
I have a King Cobra on my Outback, and will probably add another. Overall it's a great rack - on gusty days my bike moves a bit more than I'm comfortable with but don't think any other racks would do any better. Easy to load and unload. Trickiest thing is threading the lock through the frame but otherwise it works great.

Comments about Yakima King Cobra Bike Mount:
Love. Best I've seen. ANY roof-mount can be a challenge to load, especially on a VAN or SUV. This one simplifies it as much as I could hope: lift the bike onto the tray - lots of room for error without risking the car finish. Then roll the front tire into the "mouth"; watch the V-holder lock into place; tighten the big red nut under the front tire (I spend too much time doing this; I'm compulsive that way); lastly tighten the rear tire strap. SUPER EASY. Front wheel stays on. Bike remains steady at 70+ mph in a crosswind for hours (I saw through the sunroof: solid).
Slight bummer: without bikes, this might be slightly louder than other options, and a fairing can only be used if the King Cobra is mounted facing the rear of the car. I like to mount the bikes so the chainring is facing away from me when loading the. So I prefer the driver side rack mounted forward and the passenger side rack mounted backwards. Small trade off for a great product.

Comments about Yakima King Cobra Bike Mount:
At first blush they don't appear all that stable with mtn bikes but they did just fine on our GTI at speeds up to 110mph on the way to Moab (wife has lead foot). Very easy to use and nice not to have to break down a dirty bike to rack it. A little trickier when used on top of a Jeep due to the height, but still perfectly acceptable.
The spring loaded brass set-pin popped out and wedged on one side of the wheel holder on one of mine so minus a star for durability.

Comments about Yakima King Cobra Bike Mount:
Great rack for just about any bike. I have two that I use with two different bikes and they work great with either of them. A bit difficult to initially install with mighty mounts because of how they screw on from the bottom, but no problems once it's on the truck. Easy to load and very stable.

Comments about Yakima King Cobra Bike Mount:
It's a little awkward for me to put the bike on at first...short person v.s. tall roof. But you'll get used to it very quickly. Holds the bike really well, never worried...have been driving with two bikes for 3-4 hrs, not going any loose at all. Except for the high price tag, it's an excellent rack.

Comments about Yakima King Cobra Bike Mount:
After years of putting my back seat down and tossing my bike in, or going off with friends and putting my Yakima King Joe 3 Bike Carrier on my car.... I finally broke down and bought 2 King Cobra Bike Mounts for the roof of my Outback this past summer. I was able to install both of them in less than an hour. It is so great being able to lock my bikes to the car now on a biking weekend and not have to worry about them! The rack is VERY sturdy and the bikes have virtually no wobble when driving on the highway. I always thought having a rack on top of my car would make it hard to load the bikes and take up too much time.... It's faster and easier using these mounts, than it is to put the King Joe on the back of my car! I highly recommend these racks for ease of installation and use!

Comments about Yakima King Cobra Bike Mount:
EASY TO INSTALL AND USE. HOLDS BIKES TIGHT. I'VE USED IT ON BOTH MY HEAVY DOWNHILL BIKE AND MY LIGHT COMPETITION ROAD BIKE. THE CABLE LOCK IS KIND OF WEIRD, BUT OTHERWISE IT'S A GREAT RACK.

Comments about Yakima King Cobra Bike Mount:
Great rack for short cars. Can be difficult to get bike on taller cars.
The rack is very stable, and loading/unloading goes quickly once you are used to it. Easily adjusts to fit different bike sized on the fly.
