Quick Tips—Travel Clothing
If you're like most adventure travelers, you've probably planned both urban and outdoor activities for your trip. Travel light by packing versatile clothing that works for both the city and the wilderness.
-
Outerwear—Choose waterproof/breathable shells for the best weather protection. Water-resistant/breathable shells are a good choice in mild, drier climates.
-
Pants and Shorts—Always bring pants for cool evenings or restaurants. Convertible pants, which feature zip-off legs that convert them into shorts, are convenient on active trips.
-
Shirts—Pack a long-sleeve shirt for sun and insect protection in tropical environments and for warmth in cooler areas. You can find button-down shirts, T-shirts and tanks in breathable synthetic materials.
-
Hats—They don't take up much space, but they do a lot to protect you from the elements. Choose a waterproof rain hat, a lightweight sun hat or a cold-weather hat, depending on your destination.
Tip—Look for comfortable, and easy-care clothing. Synthetic materials such as Supplex®, REI MTS® polyester, Capilene®, Tencel® or nylon, wick moisture, dry quickly and wrinkle less.
