There is perhaps no more scenic a destination within an hour’s travel of Missoula than this splendid canyon. As an approach route to 9,162-foot Sweeney Peak, the trail offers access to four high lakes nestled within sight of the Bitterroots’ crest and sees heavy recreational use throughout the summer. Highlights: A series of four subalpine lakes with good angling opportunities.
