Impressive views of southwest Montana and the site of an old fire lookout. Ascending this nearly 9,000-foot-high peak requires moderate effort for an outstanding view. The trail is easy enough for inexperienced hikers but scenic enough for veterans. The mountain’s proximity to Reservoir Lake Campground makes it an appealing day hike while camping on Reservoir Lake. In addition, moose often wander through the marshy Bloody Dick Creek, which runs along the road, and the surrounding Continental Divide area is prime elk habitat.
