West Glacier, MT
A day hike from Nyack Creek Ford to Loneman Lookout. Loneman Lookout is a seldom-visited, unmanned fire lookout that rises above the old Nyack Ranger Station. The forest begins to open into grassy meadows halfway to the summit, and the trail makes a complete circuit of the mountain in the last mile of the trail. The summit overlooks Harrison Lake and Walton Mountain to the north, with the peaks of the Great Bear Wilderness looming to the south, crowned with Great Northern Mountain. To the southeast, the fang tooth beyond Threetops Mountain is Mount St. Nicholas.
