Although this trail is short on mountain scenery, it does provide the easiest and most direct route to the North Fork of Deep Creek. After 1.6 miles, the trail runs up the eastern side of Green Gulch through a forest of Douglas fir and lodgepole pine. About halfway up the valley area is a series of grassy glades, but only the stony ridge to the west is revealed by the clearings. Soon after crossing the glades, the trail enters a spruce-fir forest.
