West Glacier, MT
This trail provides access from the valley of the Middle Fork to the rugged Birch Creek country via a low pass over the Continental Divide. Along the way, it passes such scenic attractions as Gateway Gorge and Big River Meadows. Because of the relatively low elevation of Gateway Pass, this route is passable even in early summer, when the higher passes are still clogged with snow. However, rock slides in Gateway Gorge often make passage difficult for stock parties early in the season.
