A rough road takes hikers high up toward the Selkirk Crest for reasonably easy access to these high mountain lakes. The waters are cut into the granite shoulder of the crest and can be surrounded by snow in late June. The lakes in this area are stocked with cutthroat trout, which seem to cope with the area’s healthy mosquito crop better than those hikers who do not come equipped with repellents and long-sleeved shirts and pants.
