Pines to Peak
Boulder, CO

Pines to Peak
Just a few miles west of Boulder is a delightful destination for a short wildflower walk. The one-mile Pines to Peak Trail loops Bald Mountain and tops out at a sturdy bench offering views east to the plains and west to the Continental Divide. The walk traverses ancient Boulder Creek grandiorite, now decomposed granite, but molten material 1.7 billion years ago. Bald Mountain is home to ponderosa pines and a variety of shrubs and wildflowers. Especially appealing is the June-inspired duo of Rocky Mountain phlox and mouse-ear chickweed. Wildflower alert: A duet of pink phlox and white mouse-ear chickweed.
