Nymph, Dream and Emerald Lakes
This is a mix-and-match hike-you can pick the destination that best suits your mood and abilities. The first stop is lily pad-topped Nymph Lake. If you desire a more alpine setting, continue up the trail to Dream Lake, whose open shores offer views of Hallett Peak and Flattop Mountain above. And if you feel truly ambitious, climb to Emerald Lake. This timberline tarn is in an entirely different setting than those below, contained in a rocky basin with talus and steep rock walls on all sides. A weathered evergreen guards the outlet of the lake, offering sparse shade to those who wish to sit on a sunbaked rock and contemplate the hugeness of the mountains that tower above. The trail to Nymph Lake is paved and relatively easy walking.
