Mount Shavano Summit Trail – Tabeguache Peak Traverse
These two mountains are a blast to climb in one day, thanks to the great ridge that conjoins the summits. The Blank Gulch approach exits treeline into an impressive bowl that leads to a high saddle between Shavano and Unnamed Peak 13,630. Ascend Shavano via a good scramble and traipse roughly 1.0 mile to nearby Tabeguache Peak. Shavano is a very prominent peak, especially when viewed from US Highway 285 just north of Poncha Springs.
