Meyer Homestead
The Meyer Homestead Trail on Walker Ranch is an array of color at peak bloom. About five dozen wildflower species add their bright color to the floral still life along an easy-going 2.5-mile trail through rolling meadowlands— once choice homestead holdings. Listed as a “historic cultural landscape” on the National Register of Historic Places, Walker Ranch has a cluster of time-worn wood buildings from the early 1880s. A picnic area adjoins the parking spaces near the trailhead. Expect company on weekends, and a wholesome dose of solitude during the week. Wildflower alert: A mosaic of wildflowers that glow at sunset.
