Lake Isabelle
The trail to scenic Lake Isabelle rises less than 400 feet in its 2-mile length. Several dozen species of subalpine wildflowers add to the trek. Due to lingering snowbanks near the lake, even a late summer hike yields fresh flowers. For people who love mountain-girt lakes and crystalline cascades bright with flowers reached by congenial trail, Lake Isabelle is a great destination. Located in the popular Indian Peaks Wilderness Area west of Boulder, Lake Isabelle can be crowded on summer weekends. Wildflower alert: Cascades filled with Parry primrose, queen’s crown, tall chiming bells, and subalpine larkspur.
