Eureka Mountain Summit Trail – Hermit Peak
Relatively unknown peaks with fun, beautiful traverses are my favorite mountains to climb. Taken from Horseshoe Lake, this isn’t a strenuous loop, but it still gives you a good workout. Views to the south from Eureka are marvelous. The Crestone group (as well as Mount Adams) rise like enormous tombstones. As far as Sangre hikes go, these peaks are more for hikers than technical climbers, so everyone can enjoy them. Camping in the area is a distinct pleasure and a great way to spend an autumn weekend.
