      handheld GPS units

Is there a good resource for a beginner to learn more about handheld GPS?  I was given one and the documentation is poor/confusing.  As always, thanks!

Youtube has numerous instructional videos about GPS use and they are often model specific. Try going to Youtube and searching for the model unit that you own or are interested in.

I also found this site whcih seems to be a good resource:

Hey pwedeen, are you close to an REI store (www.rei.com/stores)? If so, then check their upcoming events for a GPS class.

Also, this great guy Ed has written up a guide to getting started which also includes a video: (copy and paste this into your browser) http://www.rei.com/expertadvice/articles/gps+receiver+howto.html
