Wilderness First Responder Recertification Course with WMI and REI

Description: Time to recertify your Wilderness First Responder Certification? This 3-day WFR Recert is a scenario-based course designed to review and practice of evacuation and decision making guidelines. It also provides current updates in the wilderness medicine field. Learning takes place both in the classroom and in outdoor settings regardless of weather conditions. Come prepared for wet, muddy, cold or hot environments. There will be a written examination at the beginning of this course. Prepare for your course with these online resources. This course may be used to recertify Wilderness Advanced First Aid, Wilderness First Responder and Wilderness EMT (wilderness portion only) certifications. You must possess a current WFR certification of at least 70 hours to recertify through a WFR Recertification course. It is your responsibility to make sure that your certification meets this standard. If you are unsure, please contact WMI before enrolling in a course. (wmi_admissons@nols.edu).

Gear to bring to class:

  • Water Bottle
  • Lunch & Snacks
  • Rain Gear - Waterproof/resistant jacket, pants and hat.
  • Notebook and Pen or Pencil
  • Appropriate clothing for the weather and conditions - Moisture wicking clothing that will help keep you warm and/or dry.

(Optional)

  • Foam sit pad - Used for insulation when sitting in snow.
  • Warm Jacket - Down or Synthetic.
