Climbing Anchor Concepts Class

Description: Learn the basics of building climbing anchor systems. Join one of our professional instructors in a session to practice knots, and discuss anchoring principles and material strengths. We will also discuss climbing gear, material strengths, and equalizing the forces applied to the anchor. All gear will be provided by REI Outdoor School. This class will focus on elements and principles of anchors and not on climbing movement. Introduction to Outdoor Rock Climbing or equivalent experience required.

Skills you'll learn:

  • To increase knowledge of knots and their proper use in anchoring
  • Discuss an overview of climbing gear and material strength
  • Learn an overview of a SERENEA anchor
