Avalanche Awareness Class

Description: Whether you ski, snowshoe, snowboard or snowmobile in the backcountry, recognition of avalanche danger is an essential and potentially lifesaving skill. This 2 hour session introduces and explains where and why avalanches occur and provide a basic approach to managing risk in the back country. Learn to access local avalanche bulletins and weather reports, recognize basics signs of avalanche danger, and learn simple ways to help avoid avalanche danger.

Skills you'll learn:

The student will be able to:, List 3 components of avalanche danger (unstable snow - terrain - and trigger), Identify key equipment needs for use when travelling in avalanche terrain, Identify key avalanche risk identifiers
