The Natchez Trace Parkway has been ranked among the Top 10 rides in the U.S., and we have selected some of the northern stretch’s best accommodations, activities and dining for this unique cultural, historic, and scenic weekend tour. This getaway will showcase the contrasting urban and natural environments of middle Tennessee, from the bright lights of Nashville - its streets lined with history and honkey-tonks, to the quiet horse farms of the surrounding counties. This four-day tour provides the new bicycle tourist or those with limited free time an opportunity to sample this amazing and revered cycling route and its best features in style.
Natchez Trace Parkway Cycling Itinerary:

Day 1
Your trip begins today in, Nashville, TN. After settling into your room at the historic Union Station Hotel around 3:00pm we get together in the early afternoon for an informational greeting where we will go over the itinerary and answer any questions you may have. After our meeting we head out for a wonderful experience in downtown Nashville and discover why it’s called the Music City. Meals Included: Dinner

Day 2
We begin the day with a short commute to the Natchez Trace. But before getting on our bikes we will enjoy a full country breakfast at the renowned Loveless Cafe. We will cycle along the rolling terrain of the Natchez Trace, stopping in the historic community of Leipers Fork in route to our host inn for the evening. Tonight we stay at the fabulous Deer Run Retreat. Our host will be providing dinner for us this evening at their wonderfully secluded retreat. All Meals Included. Mileage: options ranging from 30 to 50 miles. Our guides will assist in the selection of a route that is appropriate for group members’ abilities and desires.

Day 3
After a gourmet breakfast we will cycle along the quiet back roads surrounding the Deer Run Retreat. Our ride will take us past the horse farms and pastures of many of the stars from Nashville's renowned country music scene. We will once again dine in at our host’s table at the Deer Run Retreat tonight. All meals included. Mileage: options ranging from 30 to 60+ miles. Our guides will assist in the selection of a route that is appropriate for group members’ abilities and desires.

Day 4
We’ll enjoy another fantastic gourmet breakfast provided by our hosts before we say our goodbyes and then shuttle back to the origination point. The shuttle will give you plenty of time to reflect on the experiences of the past few days with your newfound friends. Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch.
Although we do our best to adhere to the schedule listed above, this itinerary is subject to change for numerous reasons beyond our control. This trip is operated rain or shine.

If you are traveling alone and specifically request single accommodations, you will be asked to pay the full single supplement noted on the trip itinerary. If you wish to share accommodations, we will assign you a roommate if one is available. If a roommate cannot be found, you will be asked to pay a reduced single fee, which is half of the full single supplement. Please be advised that there are a very limited number of single rooms available on most departures.
Three nights lodging; professional guiding; meals as noted in the daily itinerary; on-trip shuttles from the lodge to and from ride departure locations; sag vehicle support.
Transportation from your hometown to group meeting point; park entrance fees where required, insurance of any kind; alcoholic beverages; soft drinks; guide gratuities and items of a personal nature. You must bring your own bike or road bike rentals are available for $120. Helmets are not included with bike rentals and are not available to rent. You must bring your own helmet on this trip.
Transfers from the airport to the hotel are available through Grayline Airport express, located on the airport first floor near the baggage claim. The cost is about $20 round trip.
This trip is rated Vigorous (4) as we plan to ride between 30 and 60 miles each day, depending on group members’ desires and abilities, on mostly rolling terrain with some sustained climbs. Vehicle support, however, is provided throughout the tour, and the guides will customize the route to best suit the group. Because this is a group ride, and REI aims to assure a relatively consistent level of fitness and skill among riders, we suggest that you engage in a regular exercise regimen beginning at least three months prior to your departure. Most important to your enjoyment of the trip is your overall fitness level.
Average daytime high is 80 degrees F, with evening temperatures dropping to an average low of around 60 degrees F. Realize that these temperature estimations will vary. Late-season trips especially will experience a wider range of temperatures. Thunderstorms are a possibility at any time in the mountains making adequate raingear important.
