White Mountains Multisport
Northern New England is known worldwide for its spectacular autumn leaves in shades of red, orange, and yellow mixed with evergreen forests along its rivers, waterfalls, and mountain ridges. The diversity of scenery in the White Mountains in autumn makes it the perfect place for multisport adventure. Both novices and experienced enthusiasts will enjoy great opportunities to hike, bike, and paddle the wildest places in the Great North Woods of New Hampshire. Watch for moose, loons, and eagles, marvel at the vastness of the Milky Way while relaxing at night in fully equipped cabins on this great New Hampshire getaway.

Day 1
Your trip begins today in Errol, New Hampshire. We’ll meet at L.L. Cote Store between 3:00 and 5:00 p.m. You’ll then receive directions to your shared cabin to get settled in before dinner. We’ll get acquainted and discuss the next 2 days of adventures. Dinner included.

Day 2
After 7:30 a.m. breakfast, get ready for a day of paddling with a picnic lunch. Individuals choose sit-on-top kayaks or canoes. The group will decide between a flatwater / quickwater route into the Lake Umbagog Wildlife refuge, or a quickwater / Class I & II whitewater route through Thirteen Mile Woods. Both routes may be done on a good-weather day if the group is up to it. Full instruction and paddling equipment is provided. Stops for photo opportunities may include wildlife, paddling action, fall foliage and pond reflections. Look forward to an special evening activity after dinner. Paddling: 3-5 hours; All meals included, please bring your favorite energy snacks to eat throughout the day.

Day 3
Checking out of the cabin after 7:30 a.m. breakfast, we’ll head out for a day of biking, hiking, and capturing more pictures. We’ll mountain bike on a gravel road through a boreal forest along a mountain stream, easy to moderate grade for 2-3 hours. Along the way, your guides will offer insights into the local history and wildlife. We’ll enjoy a picnic lunch at a scenic spot and hike about 2 hours to gain sweeping mountain views, search for animal tracks and other signs of possible wildlife like pine marten or moose. Our adventure ends around 2:00 p.m. to allow ample travel time home. If scheduling a flight out, plan accordingly (for example, plan to fly out of Portland at 7:30 p.m. or Manchester at 8:00 p.m. at the earliest). There’s plenty of lodging between Errol and airports if departing the next day. Biking: 2-3 hours; Hiking: 2 hours; Breakfast and lunch included.
Although we do our very best to adhere to the schedule listed above, this itinerary is subject to change for numerous reasons beyond our control. The final route is left up to the discretion of the guides, and is based upon trip member’s skill, interests, and weather conditions. There are many wonderful and customizable options for this region, and our experienced guides will help the group to discern the best of all options. This trip is operated rain or shine.

There is no reliable transfer service from any airport to our group’s meeting point. Plan on renting a car if you are flying in for this Weekend Getaway.
This trip is rated Moderate (3) as we plan to kayak 2-4 hours on Day One on moving water, then the following morning we’ll set out for 2-3 hours of biking and later a 2 hour hike. To maximize your enjoyment of the trip and to avoid sore muscles, we suggest that you engage in a regular exercise regimen beginning at least three months prior to your departure. Most important to your enjoyment of the trip is your overall fitness level.

The key to staying comfortable while on an active trip is layering. To get maximum comfort with minimum weight, you need versatile layers that mix and match to create the right amount of insulation, ventilation and weather protection. Try to bring only what is necessary—this will help you and the field staff.
